[Pharo-project] [ANN] Cog issue tracker
by Igor Stasenko March 12, 2011

March 12, 2011

Hello everyone. Without much debate we just created it at [1]. Now there is a separate place for filing issues for Cog VM. I think Cog deserves separate issue tracker, because currently all reports and problems are mainly buried in vm-dev mailing list, and it is hard to tell what is status of one or another issue, which we lately discovered. And such approach definitely won't scale. So, it was a main reason for making this move. Lets help Eliot (and others who involved in development) make activities to be more organized and visible. I'd like to stress that there is nothing inside code.google in particular, which could make its issue tracker serve our needs well. It will work well only if we, as community, organize ourselves and pay attention to collect and put important information there, make it easily accessible, structured and so on.. [1] http://code.google.com/p/cog/ -- Best regards, Igor Stasenko AKA sig.

[Pharo-project] THANKS a lot for the awesome Deep Smalltalk School
by Mariano Martinez Peck March 12, 2011

March 12, 2011

Hi all. I am doing quite an effort to have the laptop opened and type some words....heehhehe after a whole vm hacking week I promise I cannot do more.. I wanted to thanks everybody for the unbelievable Deep Smalltalk School that we had. I really thanks everybody involved: organizers, INRIA, ESUG, EDM and other sponsors, you, etc. Even if some people don't notice, I know that some of you spend a lot of time and energy (instead of using such yout time for something else). I promise it was more than worth it. The school was a success. People come over the world: Canada, USA, Argentina, Norway, Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, etc. We were around 45 persons. Even if I am a VM newbie, I like low level stuff. Sometimes when you go to ESUG, Smalltalks or any other conference, you can see one or two 30-minutes-talks about VM, compilers, etc. But do you image what is a whole week from 9:00 to 18:00 talking about VM, Compiler, Parser, Networking, optimizations, etc ??? It is really cool!!! If there is something like this again in the future, please, consider coming, you won't regret. The best thing is that since we have a lot of hours, we can have not only the theoretical lessons, but also the hands on. So, we were able to: compile CogVM from scratch, implement a Twitter like app, create some petit parsers, optimize some real code, create a minimal Hazelnut image, create a VM plugin, etc.... So, once again, thanks a lot to everybody involved. Cheers Mariano

[Pharo-project] Binding data to controls widgets in CLFramework
by nullPointer March 11, 2011

March 11, 2011

I added basic bindings mechanism on CLFramework, for connect data with widgets. First, a ObservableCollection; any change on the collection have representation on the data showed for the widget: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8nC2gB4SUk For the moment the ObservableCollection only works with CLListview widget. Later will work with CLGrid too. Second, basic value bindings of a model (a person) with the GUI: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYX2NCav_ZE Regards. -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/Binding-data-to-controls-widgets-in-CLFramework-tp333… Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

[Pharo-project] Issue 3805 in pharo: PluckedSound does not work in 1.1.1 after "Save and Quit"
by pharo＠googlecode.com March 11, 2011

March 11, 2011

Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 3805 by incongru...@gmail.com: PluckedSound does not work in 1.1.1 after "Save and Quit" http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=3805 Pharo image: Pharo-1.1.1-dev10.09.1, Pharo-1.2 (downloaded Mar 7, 2011) Pharo core version: 1.1.1 Virtual machine used: Squeak 4.2.5beta1U Class browser used (if applicable): OBSystemBrowserAdaptor Steps to reproduce: 1. I load up Pharo-1.1.1-dev10.09.1.image and save it as test.image. 2. I open test.image. 3. I do "PluckedSound default play". The sound plays. 4. I "Save and Quit" 5. I reopen test.image and do "PluckedSound default play" again, but no sound will play. The same is happening for 3 of my friends, 1 is also on OSX and the other two are on windows. I posted this problem on the mailing list and as suggested, I tried the 1.2 image. In the 1.2 image, I am never able to hear a sound, even before saving.
