[Pharo-project] Status of Magma on Pharo 1.2
by Miguel Cobá April 17, 2011

April 17, 2011

Hi all, a lot of messages have been sent asking about the status of Magma on Pharo and in particular on Pharo 1.2. Here is it. Magma latest version (1.2) isn't working on Pharo 1.2. This is due to some changes that Pharo 1.2 have and some changes that Magma 1.2 uses that only were on Squeak 4.2. As they are very difficult to integrate now that Pharo 1.2 is out, they are targetted to Pharo 1.3. So, Magma 1.2 (or greater) will only be available to Pharo 1.3. Now, what if I want to use Magma in Pharo 1.2 right now. Well, your only option is Magma 1.1r1. Is that bad, I don't think so, as the new releases of magma are mostly about performance and not about new functionality. So for a OO database, 1.1r1 is as good as 1.2. So mind not about it. Now, to load it, evaluate in a workspace: Deprecation raiseWarning: false. Gofer new squeaksource: 'MetacelloRepository'; package: 'ConfigurationOfMagma'; load. ((Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfMagma) project version: #stable) load: 'Tester'. Currenty 1.1r1 is the stable version for Pharo 1.2.x. Then create a directory for the repo (magma in this case) and evaluate: MagmaRepositoryController create: 'magma/' root: Dictionary new. Start the magma server MagmaServerConsole new open: 'magma/'; processOn: 51969; inspect. Connect to magma (MagmaSession host: 'localhost' port: 51969) connectAs: 'miguel'; inspect. In the window opened by the last doit (the connection window) evaluate: self root inspect and then self root at #miguel put: OrderedCollection new and then again: self root inspect. add some value: (self root at: #miguel) add: 'Hello world' read that value (print it) (self root at: #miguel) first "-> 'Hello world' Chris Muller is kindly working on the issues found in order to make latest Magma working in Pharo. When he publishes a new version I will update the ConfiguratioOfMagma, pointing #stable to the new version. Until then, 1.1r1 should work. [Pharo-project] Fwd: [Pharocasts] New comment on Magma, an object oriented database.
by laurent laffont April 17, 2011

Someone has an answer please ? Laurent Laffont ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Bostjan <noreply-comment(a)blogger.com> Date: Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 12:41 PM Subject: [Pharocasts] New comment on Magma, an object oriented database. To: laurent.laffont(a)gmail.com Bostjan has left a new comment on your post "Magma, an object oriented database": Great sceencast, thanks. I have problems installing magma db in pharo image. I have tried with pharo 1.1, .1.2 and the latest without success. As I have read from other post is current version of magma incompatible with any pharo image (in not maintained for pharo but only for squeak). Is there any possibility to install magma into pharo? Then we can do that to the mails send to the special tracker list which I have set up: http://lists.gforge.inria.fr/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pharo-bugtracker -- Marcus Denker -- denker(a)acm.org http://www.marcusdenker.de

[Pharo-project] Status of WebClient for Pharo?
by Friedrich Dominicus April 17, 2011

April 17, 2011

Dear Pharo developers, can you tell me about the status of WebClient in Pharo. (well and if you know it would be nice to know if SqueakSSL is "working", or "working in principal" or "not working.) Or do you have other suggestions for accessing the diverse Web services with Pharo? Regards Friedrich

The problem is that we can just use the Google tracker, not change it. The tracker itself does not have even trivial support for grouping issues. And *nothing* to configure the mails it sends. [Pharo-project] Moving tracker mails to second list?
by Marcus Denker April 17, 2011

Hi, The tracker generates a mail even for tiny status changes (e.g. 1.3 --> 1.3-Dev)... "Accepted" to "Fixed"... We did the tracker to the main list so people realise that a lot is going on on the tracker. I guess we accomplished that mission. Now >1000 Mails/Week is too much. So I vote for moving the tracker emails to a second list. This way people can easily subscribe to that. Marcus -- Marcus Denker -- http://www.marcusdenker.de INRIA Lille -- Nord Europe. Team RMoD.

The problem is that we use a tracker that we can not change. Google can just send all emails or none. That's it. In addition, it does not support sub-projects. So we have just a mess of 450 issues, instead of sorting them nicely. E.g. to Collections Morphic FilesSystem O2 OB and then realizing that each in itself has not that many issues... (devide and conquer *does* work!). It's always the same: Perfection is something else, but if we do not just use what we are just stuck. [Pharo-project] Finder: case-insensitive search
by DougEdmunds April 17, 2011

April 17, 2011

I did a search for 'message names' in Source using Finder. I get one set of results. I get different results if I search for 'Message names'. I get yet different results if I search for 'Message Names'. I want to search without having to guess every possible case-sensitive combination. How can I search Source for case-insensitive results? By comparison, searching in Selectors is not case sensitive. A search for 'message' will find 'message' or 'Message'. Entering 'message' and checking the regex box limits it to case-sensitive results (only finding message but not Message). But it doesn't work this way for Source. Why the inconsistency? -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/Finder-case-insensitive-search-tp3452633p3452633.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
