by Mariano Martinez Peck May 1, 2011

May 1, 2011

MessageTally time: [HelpBrowser open] between 2 seconds in Cog and with a regular VM between 6 and 8.... is there an easy way to improve it ? Alexandre, do you want another place where to put a cache like Metacello's currentVersion? ;) Cheers -- Mariano http://marianopeck.wordpress.com

[Pharo-project] Zinc problems found
by Esteban Lorenzano May 1, 2011

May 1, 2011

Hi, I found some problems on Zinc implementation. Take this example: HTTPSocket httpGetDocument: 'http://127.0.0.1:333/analytics/feeds/accounts/default' args: (Dictionary new at: 'prettyprint' put: #('true'); yourself) accept: '*/*' request: ('Authorization: GoogleLogin Auth={1}{2}' format: {self authenticationKey. String crlf} this, if I have the correct authentication key, gives me the correct answer (an atom-xml response). Now, if I try: ZnHTTPSocketFacade httpGetDocument: 'http://127.0.0.1:333/analytics/feeds/accounts/default' args: (Dictionary new at: 'prettyprint' put: #('true'); yourself) accept: '*/*' request: ('Authorization: GoogleLogin Auth={1}{2}' format: {self authenticationKey. String crlf} (this should work, as the facade is for compatibility, I think) I have two errors, one of them easily solvable, and the other... well... I couldn't solve it in the 15' I spent on it :) 1) arguments are not in the correct way. While HTTPSocket functions expect something like this: Dictionary new at: 'prettyprint' put: #('true'); "<-- Parameter is an array" yourself. ZnHTTPSocketFacade expects something like this: Dictionary new at: 'prettyprint' put: 'true'; "<-- Parameter is a string" yourself. 2) This is the hard one. If you do the get request with parameter fixed, you should get the atom feed. But you don't. You get a ZnResponse who is OK (status 200), but entity is empty. I followed the error until this method: canReadContent ^ self hasContentLength or: [ self isChunked or: [ self allowsReadingUpToEnd ] ] who return false, because none of the questions is true. Then, no entity is filled, and I have no answer :( Hope this help :) Cheers, Esteban

According to v 1.3, ParagraphEditor is deprecated (Deprecated13 package). You should hunt around for some other class to use in section 3.5 instead of ParagraphEditor. :dae

[Pharo-project] squeaksource Seaside30 repo out of sync
by Yanni Chiu April 30, 2011

April 30, 2011

When I look at the latest version of Seaside-Tests-Core at squeaksource.com, and when I look at the repo in-image in a Metacello browser, the latest version is: Seaside-Tests-Core-lr.219 However, version 305 of ConfigurationOfSeaside30 lists the version as: Seaside-Tests-Core-as.220 I cannot see the "as.220" version. Also, the build at http://jenkins.lukas-renggli.ch/job/Seaside%203.0/ seems to have picked up the "as.220" version. But I don't see ConfigurationOfSeaside30 being used to build that image. Does anyone else see the same thing, or know what's going on?

Re: [Pharo-project] [Pharo-users] Tutorial on Announcements
by Mariano Martinez Peck April 30, 2011

Cool! It seems we have too much information about announcements hehhehe 1) http://dougedmunds.com/pmwiki.php?n=Pharo.AnnouncementsTutorial 2) The Help System chapter -> just take your image, world menu -> Help -> Help Browser -> "Announcements framework" 3) Pharo collabortive book chapter: http://book.pharo-project.org/book/announcements/ So....I've just created a last chapter in: http://book.pharo-project.org/book/announcements/windowannouncements/Announ… where I link to the rest of the resources, and I have updated the "Links" page of the Help System chapter. [Pharo-project] HelpBrowser takes too much time to open
by Torsten Bergmann April 30, 2011

April 30, 2011

This is because the help book "Pharo" includes an API reference for the WHOLE system (starting from ProtoObject all subclasses down) and converts all class comments in the system into help text. Accessing sources is slow... Just run MessageTally spyOn: [SystemReference asHelpTopic] If nobody uses this full API reference then we can eliminate the class "PharoAPIHelp" and it should be much faster (from 3705 down to 1006 in my image). Other books like the ones on announcements and on regular expression also contain an API reference ... but only with classes for these packages.
