[Pharo-project] PharoKernel 13269
by Pavel Krivanek June 25, 2011

June 25, 2011

Hi I uploaded new set of Pharo images. The generation is now much simpler because Pharo already has all patches necessary for the generation of the kernel image. The Morphic initialization is now better and generated PharoCore image seems to be normally usable. Please try it on the Mac virtual machines. https://gforge.inria.fr/frs/download.php/28664/PharoKernel-13269.zip Cheers, -- Pavel

[Pharo-project] TimeProfileBrowser DNU in PharoOneClick 1.3
by Alain_Rastoul June 24, 2011

June 24, 2011

Hi, In latest oneclick 1.3 (Latest update: #13269) TimeProfileBrowser seems to be broken. To test try: TimeProfileBrowser onBlock: [ 35 benchFib] it gives a TimeProfileBrowser DNU allInstVarNames each time you click on a line (and of course it does not display the code pane). After digging a bit I found that it ends up in TimeProfileBrowser >> setClassAndSelectorsIn: ... ^ Smalltalk tools messageSet parse: etc etc If I define the messageSet method in ToolRegistry everything seems to be fine. ToolRegistry messageSet ^MessageSet I can report a bug if needed for traceability Cheers Alain

[Pharo-project] I need conseils for develop a grid layout
by nullPointer June 24, 2011

June 24, 2011

I want develop a universal layout in morphic. Something for work in most cases when is needed put widgets in a container in ordered way. I believe the best option is something like grid layout container from WPF. Can you give me a "start point"? I don´t want work with inheritance from existent layouts, I want create a NEW mechanism for put controls, but I don´t know for where begin. Many thanks for the help. -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/I-need-conseils-for-develop-a-grid-layout-tp3623459p3… Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Re: [Pharo-project] Proposal to refactor MethodFinder with pragmas
by Carlo June 24, 2011

... because using method is old school and pragma's are new school ;) (Java annotations anyone) Arguably using pragma's is cleaner approach to specify orthogonal concerns but without full IDE support (refactorings etc to minimize unmaintained pragma's) I would argue for just using a method and package based on convention. At the end of the day both solutions will work but if we are going to aggregate all the MethodFinder acceptable selectors into a class method then we may as well drop the pragma... [Pharo-project] [ANN] hard freeze 1.3 and (slow) start of 1.4
by Marcus Denker June 24, 2011

June 24, 2011

So 1.3 seems to get stable... we added some fixes over the week, but most of them are related to Pavel's kernel, so they are just refactorings and cleanups, no real fixes. I think we should continue to test 1.3 and end of the month announce it. TODO is quite short: -> harvest the two last Full related issues -> two more Pavel Kernel fixes for core -> check one-click on hudson for release. We configured the infrastructure last week for 1.4... to get it -> update an image before 13267 and say "yes" when asked if you want to progress to 1.4 -> or download the image https://gforge.inria.fr/frs/download.php/28660/PharoCore-1.4-14000.zip -> The 1.4 stream uses a new squeaksource project (pharo14) as the other one was too large (>4000 mcz files). -> the updates are just the same as in 1.3 for now, the only difference is that ToolBuilder was unloaded. For continuous integration, 1.4 is using the new Jenkins setup: https://ci.lille.inria.fr/pharo/ No one-click yet, that will follow... the idea is to move now slowly to the new jenkins, while letting 1.2 and 1.3 on the old server (and turn it off at some point in the future). Jenkins sends out tweets for every build: http://twitter.com/#!/pharoci Marcus -- Marcus Denker -- http://www.marcusdenker.de INRIA Lille -- Nord Europe. Team RMoD.
