[Pharo-project] [Pharo-users] 1.4 update is broken do not use it

Marcus wrote: >>> so now updating from https://gforge.inria.fr/frs/download.php/28827/Pharo-1.4-14065.zip >> >> Is this a core or a full image? If core (which one can use to update further) shouldnt this be reflected in the ZIP's name? >In 1.4, there is only one image. >This simplifies everything.... OK, but then two questions regarding the above image: - what is the intention? Provide only the core image in the future? Will ConfigurationOfPharo still be maintained to be able to build a dev image? - why is the provided image a Cog only image (was not able to open it with the standard VM, so it looks like it was saved with Cog) Is this intended? by Stéphane Ducasse Aug. 1, 2011

Aug. 1, 2011

Hi guys I want to share that with you. (may be I wrote some errors that you will spot I'm sure). I wrote two chapters for the next book: float (with the participation of Nicolas Cellier) and internal number representation (two complements and friend). I wrote that also for myself so that I can forget and just read it again and could say: ok this is that simple.... :) http://stephane.ducasse.free.fr/Web/Draft/ Stef

[Pharo-project] Continuing to clean: deprecating TimeProfileBrowser
by Stéphane Ducasse Aug. 1, 2011

Aug. 1, 2011

Hi guys I would like to know what you think about: Issue 4573: Should deprecate TimeProfileBrowser TimeProfilerBrowser is a subclass of MessageSet. And we will deprecate MessageSet. Now we have a good replacement for TimeProfileBrowser, namely TimeProfiler so we can deprecate TimeProfileBrowser. Because we should continue to clean massively the StringHolder hierarchy. Stef

by Alexandre Bergel Aug. 1, 2011

Hi! I often use ruby when I wish to realize some arithmetic operating without leaving my xterm. I haven't tried Coral, but does it offer a read-eval-loop? a bit like in scheme or shell script?
