### Last week: * [objcbridge] finish migration of ObjCBridge to TFFI. Now everything works as expected, proxies inclusive (chich was absent before) * [spec2] fix a problem in the build of toolbars from commands (this one was new... it was working before). * [spec2] I spent some time figuring out what we need to fix the "sorted table+selection item" problem. Basically, selectedItem needs to be retrieved from sorted collection, not from original model. But this is problem because sorted collection lives in adapter part (or even worst on gtk). * Spec2: implement SpToolBarToggleButton * Spec2-doc: SpLabelPresenter * Spec2: bug: error mapping of $^ in gtk backend. * building a small tool to help me find image leaks. For now, is just a simpler way to visualise amount of instances (no graphics, just numbers). I may add other stuff later. It can be found at https://github.com/estebanlm/WAMO (WAMO=Where Are My Objects) * [newtools] I added some settings to change the default toolbar display mode. I like small icons, Stef likes big ones... like this we are all happy :) * [big images] testing different heuristics to make a big image (and killing my machine in the process) ### This week * More on work on speed up of big images (finish migration to notebook morph, start looking improvements on senders/implementors) * Work on idle vm * Spec2: work on dynamic layouts

Hi Benoit, you are right to say that documentation is lacking. Alas, it's not going to fall from the sky: there's no such thing like a VM Pantheon with gods ruling the VM world, not even half-gods (well maybe one super-powered hero, we have to acknowledge that a 10x speedup was brought by his experience). Changes must come from the ground up, and if some metaphor is to be used, we'd rather want to cultivate the VM I would say. Every initiative is welcome, and encouraged, the source code is open, there is no will to protect by secret or obfuscation. We have almost 50 contributors reported on github, which is already a good starting point. I'd say every little contribution counts. So if someone wants to take a subject like VM parameters, I'm pretty sure that he/she will get all necessary precision from those sharing parts of the knowledge. It's also a very interesting way to get more insights in the VM. What should be discussed IMO is the form of documentation. Blog posts are nice. But they are individual initiatives, rather than collectively maintained and versioned documentation. methods not registered in packages?

Hi, While trying to measure the size of code, I stumbled across an interesting problem: it seems that some methods have a package, but the package does not list. packagedMethods := RPackageOrganizer default packages flatCollect: #methods. methods := ProtoObject withAllSubclasses flatCollect: #methods. diff := methods \ packagedMethods. diff size. â7249" Looking at bit closer, it looks like the methods do have a package and that they point to the package that is in the package organizer, so that is good: diff select: [ :each | each package isNil ] "an OrderedCollection()". diff select: [ :each | (RPackageOrganizer default packages includes: each package) not ]. "an OrderedCollection()â However, when we ask the package, it does not know about the method: diff select: [ :each | each package methods includes: each ] "an OrderedCollection()â Is this a known problem or should I open an issue (I did not find a bug report for it)? So much is happening that it is very hard to keep track, let alone look at everything or try it out. Marcus' excellent curated Pharo Newsletter is one place to see this. The great thing is that it is like that almost every month.
