Rubic is getting more and more lowlevel
by Pavel Krivanek July 9, 2015

July 9, 2015

Hi, it is understandable that Rubic is used in our most basic tools but because it is an semi-external project with a configuration, it makes some dependency problems in Pharo. It is not possilbe to use Nautilus without it and newly the Workspace (from Tool-Workspace) is not possilbe to load properly. Currently we have no configuratons for all tools that are using Rubic and these tools are nested deeply in the system so we cannot have right loading order of Pharo packages. Please, do not add new dependencies from Pharo monolit to external packages. Cheers, -- Pavel

Moldable Pharo
by Torsten Bergmann July 9, 2015

July 9, 2015

Hi, with GT Inspector/Spotter we now have more moldable tools and Pharo becomes again a more flexible Tool and IDE. The settings framework also allows to use the settings browser for own purposes and in own applications - which is nice. One can even have a custom world menu in Pharo for the own app (see [1]) Reminds me on Eclipse (RCP, ...) where one can extend the IDE at specific extension points to provide own custom tools and even build applications that are not IDE's. What about a moldable browser? For instance it would be nice if I could extend the browser with own panes as replacement for the regular code pane. So for instance a method that returns an XML string could be shown as a clickable tree instead of the code pane, ... foo <xml> ^'<someXML></someXML> With a flexible code editor like Rubric/TxText and Petit infrastructure or other one could even provide moldable code panes with syntax highlighting for different languages (PHP, CSS, HTML, ... Even the browser panes (packages, classes, ...) could be moldable - you display in a tree an object with relations to other objects - when you click on them more customizable details (depending on the displayed object) open up in new panes. The more (moldable) infrastructure Pharo provides the more cases one will find where it can be applied. So the question is how modable is Pharo already (beside the mentioned cases) and how moldable will Pharo be in the future? What is the next planned step in this area (if any)? Thx T. Request to put up my under-development application for automated build
by Jigyasa Grover July 9, 2015

July 9, 2015

Hello All :) I am a newbie in Pharo and have started to build my first application i.e. an offline text search application namely *searchQuick* which returns the list of file titles from the pre-loaded text files present in the resource folder when a string is searched for. You all are welcome to fork the code (https://github.com/jig08/sQuick_new) , try the infancy application and send in suggestions. Further, I would like to request to put up my application on the CI Automated Build server for Pharo. Kindly guide me on how to go about it. Seeking help to build an accordion widget for GUI of sQuick
by Jigyasa Grover July 9, 2015

July 9, 2015

Hello All :) I am a newbie in Pharo and have started to build my first application i.e. an offline text search application namely searchQuick. You all are welcome to fork the code (https://github.com/jig08/sQuick_new) , try the infancy application and send in suggestions. Currently, I have built the basic structure of the application using Morphs and have a lot to cover on the GUI part. sQ basically returns the list of file titles from the pre-loaded text files present in the resource folder when a string is searched for. I plan to build an accordion widget (https://jqueryui.com/accordion/) or something similiar to view the results. I seek help on the implementation of this part. Looking forward to a positive response. Ecore Importer
by Brice GOVIN July 9, 2015

July 9, 2015

Hi everybody, does anyone know if there is an Ecore importer in Pharo? The idea is to import an ecore file (so an XMI) and to create Pharo classes in a given package directly. At least, there could be an Ecore importer that create immediately a MooseModel ? ZnUrl>>#withPathSegments: Surprise
by Sean P. DeNigris July 8, 2015

July 8, 2015

I expected #withPathSegments: to return a copy with path segments replaced by the argument, but in fact they were added to the existing path. Just me? ----- Cheers, Sean -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/ZnUrl-withPathSegments-Surprise-tp4836593.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk Developers mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

TextHighlightByBounds
by Sean P. DeNigris July 8, 2015

July 8, 2015

This is a weird class. It is a "definition of a clickable highlighted range of text", but by point co-ordinates?! Why isn't this done using intervals into the text? I discovered this while investigating whether DiffMorph could wrap the text, but since the highlights are point-based, the highlights no longer match up with the text. ----- Cheers, Sean -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/TextHighlightByBounds-tp4836591.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk Developers mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
