[Reflectivity] progress
by Marcus Denker Oct. 1, 2015

Oct. 1, 2015

Hi, more progress: 1) two options related to inlining: #optionInlineMetaObject and #optionInlineCondition By default, we inline the condition and the meta object (and thus the links is not even referenced from the compiled code). But sometimes it is nice to add that indirection: you can turn off the links without triggering a recompile, when enabling #optionInlineCondition, for example. 2) #after links are now working on both Slot, Globals and ClassVariable entities 3) #entity reifiication: âgive me the entity that the link is installed onâ (same as #node when installing on the AST and #variable when installing on variables) all this is in 50 350, this is in the queue to be integrated: 4) all reifications now implemented for Slots: (ReflectivityExamples slotNamed: #ivar) availableReifications -> #(#object #link #context #value #name #variable #class #entity) Backlog: => Link on temporary variables. => #instead of variables => ⦠all at https://trello.com/b/m5cxaAxB/reflectivity Marcus

Code completion in comment pane and Pillar
by Peter Uhnak Oct. 1, 2015

Oct. 1, 2015

Hi, Some time ago I ran into a problem with typing left brackets into comment pane. As you know, code blocks in Pillar are marked with [[[ However comment pane is subject to regular code completion of NECController, which means that every time I type '[' NEC converts it into '[ ]'. So if I type '[[[' then I get '[ [ [ ] ] ]'. Which is good in code, but not here. Now considering we are pushing for Pillar in comments I think this should be resolved. However I don't know how. a) disable code completion for comments (trivial, but loosing CC b) subclass NECController to disable this. This is probably lot more complex, because the current one is hard-wired via Smalltalk tools c) add configuration option to NECControler so it can run in different modes (still a lot of work) d) add setting to options to disable/enable CC in comments and let users decide. d) other better, faster, easier solution? >From future perspective b) could be used to provide more extensive code completion, specifically for Pillar. Thanks, Peter

[Reflectivity] Links on Slots
by Marcus Denker Sept. 30, 2015

Sept. 30, 2015

Hi, basis for annotating instanceVariables (Slots) with meta links is now working. https://pharo.fogbugz.com/f/cases/16669/MetaLinks-on-Slots This test is green: testReifySlotName | iVar instance link | iVar := ReflectivityExamples slotNamed: #ivar. link := MetaLink new metaObject: self; selector: #tagExec:; arguments: #(name). iVar link: link. self assert: iVar hasMetalink. self assert: (ReflectivityExamples >> #exampleIvarRead) class = ReflectiveMethod. self assert: (tag isNil). instance := ReflectivityExamples new. self assert: (instance exampleIvarRead = 33). self assert: (tag = #ivar). link uninstall.

Navigate from Variables to AST Node accessing that variable
by Marcus Denker Sept. 30, 2015

Sept. 30, 2015

Hi, https://pharo.fogbugz.com/f/cases/16674/Navigate-from-Variables-to-AST-Node… The Slice adds the method #astNodes to LiteralVariable, Slot and TemporaryVariable. e.g. inspect Object binding astNodes With the magic of GTInspector, this is a browser that show the source for that AST node nicely highlighted:

Hi, I was expecting that StartupPreferencesLoader is added to the startup list, but I didnât find it there. So how are the preference files loaded at each startup? Uko

16666 CI validation Failure misreported as Success
by Ben Coman Sept. 30, 2015

Sept. 30, 2015

Of the eight issues currently "Resolved (Fix Reviewed By monkey)" which passed validation successfully, three seem to actually be failures. That is, Fogbugz shows SUCCESS when the validation report shows FAILURE. * 16577 Random should be in its own package * 16634 Rename layout to classLayout (step 2 use new accessors in the tests) * 16645 RBParser should not accept # <whitespace> and # <number> So... Am I misinterpreting the validation reports? Until this is resolved, should we require validation reports be manually checked (with a comment on the Issue) before integration? Could futher occurances be reported in a similar way to those already on... https://pharo.fogbugz.com/default.asp?16666 * Scrape the Fogbugz comment to the top of a text file. * Scrape the Validation Report into the text file. * Extract significant text into a Fogbugz comment in 16666. * Attach text file to comment. cheers -ben
