[Pharo-project] StandardFileStream size limit?

Hey all! I have just added large file (chunkwise upload and download) support to Kom/Networking/Iliad in Pharo 1.4 and while testing it I tried uploading a 2.9Gb file. I haven't looked at the exact error message, and I haven't tried writing a trivial test - but the "half written" file on disk is almost EXACTLY 2Gb (2147483647) so I am wondering - do we still have a 2Gb file size limit? This is "one click 1.4" on Ubuntu 64 with ext4. regards, GÃ¶ran

Hi guys I'm revisiting all the RB rule and I'm puzzled by this one. Checks assignment to a variable that is the first statement inside the value block that is also used in the unwind block. Google Code Shutdown

In case anyone hasn't heard, Google Code will shut down entirely on January 25, 2016. I was following these Smalltalk projects there: magritte-metamodel moose-technology seaside marsonpharo nativeboost metacello squeaksource3 phratch - already on GitHub per Jannik The easiest action seems to be to export to GitHub, for which Google Code even provides a button! NAtiveBoost error

Hi, I have a problem with a nativeboost call, but I don't see what I do wrong. library function prototype is: int zmq_getsockopt (void *socket, int option_name, void *option_value, size_t *option_len); my calling method in pharo is: zmq_getsockopt: socket option_name: option_name option_value: option_value option_len: option_len <primitive: #primitiveNativeCall module: #NativeBoostPlugin error: errorCode> ^self nbCall: #(int zmq_getsockopt (void *socket, int option_name, void * option_value, size_t* option_len) ) when I call it with ... optionValue := (NBExternalArray ofType: 'int') externalNew: 1. optionLen := (NBExternalArray ofType: 'size_t' ) externalNew: 1. [ optionValue at: 1 put: 0 . optionLen at: 1 put: (NBExternalType sizeOf: 'int') . rc := self zmq_getsockopt: socket option_name: option_name option_value: optionValue option_len: optionLen . value := optionValue at: 1 . ] ensure: [ optionValue free. optionLen free ]. ... Or because I had an exception at prototype parsing the first time because I forgot a ; at the end of the prototype ? Is my prototype correct or is it the origin of the error ? Is there a way to reset the lastError (aContext tempAt: method numTemps) ? I will try to reset it in debugger but may be there is a cleaner way ? would it be ok to change the test in handleFailure to (lastError = ErrNoNativeCodeInMethod) or:[ lastError isNil ] ? New methods for the String class

Hi to all, As you may know I'm working on in some improvements for the String class. Until now I implemented some missing tests. Right now I'm looking forward to add new methods that could be useful based on Ruby API ( http://www.ruby-doc.org/core-2.1.0/String.html) These are a few of the methods that I'm planning to implement: - chomp(separator=$/) -> new_str - chop() -> new_str - ljust(integer, padstr='') ->new_str - next -> new_str - partition(sep) -> [head, sep, tail] Could you help to find out if these methods are already available for the String class? RBEnvironments allClasses/Traits/Meta ...

Hi, some time ago Yuriy cleaned up the RBBrowserEnvironment methods for allClassesAndTraits(Do), classesDo, .... The fix was good and necessary (I think). But they had an impact on some SmallLint-rules (they arent applied on the class side) and the behavior for the different Environments changed (compared with Pharo3 (-> 14621 <https://pharo.fogbugz.com/default.asp?14621> Some RBBrowserEnvironments don't work well with Metaclasses)) As some SmallLint-rules need to iterate over the metaclasses as well and I don't want to revert Yuriys change, I 'll add another method that collect classes and metaclasses. So, I need some help, how to name this methods: all classes (Object, Integer, ....) -> allClasses, ok all classes and metaclasses (Object, Object class, Integer class ) -> ? allBehaviors? all classes and traits -> allClassesAndTraits, ok all classes and meta classes and traits and class traits -> ? no idea! all metaclasses and class traits -> allMeta(ClassesAndTraits) ? I don't know if we need this One problem with "allBehaviors" is, SystemNavigation uses allBehaviors to iterate over classes, metaclasses, traits and class traits, allthough a Trait is not a Behavior. untypeable key combination

We have a class KMUntypeableSingleKeyCombination this is used for key kombinations with tab arrow backspace .... This is useful for printing key kombinations like Ctrl+TAB "space" does not use the KMUntypeableSingleKeyCombination class, therefore a short cut like Character space shift asKeyCombination looks like " Shift + " shouldn't space use this class? And I find the name a little bit misleading, what is a untypeable key? The key is typeable, otherwise we couldn't use it. Renaming the class to KMUnprintableSingleKeyCombination isn't better, because we can print this keycombination. nicolai

ctrl+a is seen as ctrl+home windows

Hi, I am on Windows, using Pharo 3.0, and I am trying to get the keybindings to work in Rubric using Windows convention (so, Ctrl instead of Cmd as a modifier), It worked reasonably well, but the problem is that somehow Ctrl+a is mapped to Ctrl+Home. The problem is not specific to Rubric as I can detect the same behavior in the regular PluggableTextMorph. Does anyone have an idea of where the problem comes from?
