SWIG for Native Boost FFI

I started working on extending SWIG to generate bindings for NativeBoost FFI, using as a reference the C# binding generator. I am committing my work on this into https://github.com/ronsaldo/swig/ . It works by creating a C side code and Smalltalk that can be filed-in in a image, which contains a class with all the NativeBoost-FFI callouts, a class for the global module, classes for each C++ class and SWIGTYPE_* classes for opaque types or types that SWIG couldn't wrap. It currently can generate bindings for C/C++ functions, constants, define based constants, opaque structures, methods, enums, and for C++ classes, nested classes, member methods, member fields, member constants, member static functions, variables and constants. The overloaded functions support currently is not so great, since I am currently using the arguments name to build the selector. I have to still decide a better strategy for the overloaded methods. WARNING: automatic garbage collection of the C++ classes is not yet ready, but it will be soon. Downcasting of C++ objects is also not supported yet. Greetings Ronie Salgado

Here is a simple calculation (that probably can be improved by the reflection or Moose aficionados) to estimate the amount of change between Pharo 2.0 and 3.0 by counting the number of methods in the image that have a timestamp later than 2.0's release date: these should be new or modified. (Object allSubclasses collect: [ :each | each methods size ]) sum. Animation by Stepping

Athens graphics are fast enough that it is possible to do high frame-rate animations. I've been trying (and, to various degrees, succeeding) in adding animations to my touch applications. I'm using stepping to do it. Basically, you just move pieces / update the display when step gets called. If you set the stepTime to 30, you should get somewhere around 30 frames per second, which is quite smooth. The problem I have is that the step mechanism in Pharo seems to block out the UI thread. In Squeak, you could return 0 for the stepTime message and then step would get called each UI cycle. In Pharo, the two seem to be disconnected. If the stepTime is too low, the processor will be busy doing redrawing and the UI loop is stopped. When I do stepTime of 20, the UI stops responding until after the animation is over. When I do stepTime of 50, the UI keeps working. The lower the stepTime, the smoother the animation, but also the chance that the UI becomes unresponsive. That's a nasty tradeoff. Is there a good way to do step style animation without this tradeoff? Why was stepping and the UI loop separated? Is there a different way that animation should be implemented? Hi, When I add a package, I was expecting to see it appear in monticello. I guess it's a pending feature. Isn't it? Will we get it in 3.0? I'm aksing this because I found this comment: 'A NautilusMonticello is a class used to handle monticello integration into Nautilus by creating the menu entries' BTW, I have encountered a problem when dealing with protocols in Nautilus. Suppose I want to add a protocol 'animation' to a new class. When I type in 'animation', the window filters out all suggestions but keeps 'zoom animation'. If I only hit the OK button, the newly created protocol is 'zoom animation'. But, I didn't select the suggestion. So, I was expecting to have the 'animation' as protocol name. Did I miss something? Hi, I am trying to get the Postgres support to work on Mac, but I have difficulties and I would need a bit of help. Here is what I do: 1. Install Postgres from http://postgresapp.com 2. Open the psql console and create a test table: CREATE TABLE TESTTABLE ( ID int, TEXT varchar(255) ); 3. In Pharo, load PostgresV2: Gofer new smalltalkhubUser: 'PharoExtras' project: 'PostgresV2'; configuration; load. (#ConfigurationOfPostgresV2 asClass project version: '2.0-baseline') load 4. In a Workspace: | conn | conn := PGConnection new. conn connectionArgs: (PGConnectionArgs hostname: 'localhost' portno: 5432 databaseName: 'testdb' userName: 'girba' password: ''). conn startup. This works fine and the PGResult is good (if I use a wrong user, it tells me that the user does not exist). 5. However: conn execute: 'SELECT * FROM TESTTABLE;' ==> PGErrorResponse(value='ERROR: relation "testtable" does not exist at character 15 ') What am I missing?
