Hi again! Help and Tutorial seem to follow similar construction patterns. I was wondering why Help expect methods on the class side and Tutorial on the instance side. Hi folks. I wasn't aware of the class SparseLargeTable but it seems it has two important instances "SparseLargeTable allInstances size -> 2" They are the class side variables #DecimalProperty and #GeneralCategory in Unicode. Actually, (Unicode classPool at: 'GeneralCategory') size -> 917632 (Unicode classPool at: 'DecimalProperty') size -> 917632 So...collections of almost 1 million elements. Now a couple of questions: 1) Is this normal/expected? In my calculus both arrays are like 3mb of memory 2) If I don't use UTF and I send an encoding as parameter in the VM (different from UTF), do I need this class side variables? Thanks and forgive my ignorance in this field...I just get the alarm while doing some memory analysis for a paper. Mariano

Hi! I am writing a help for Mondrian. I am reading "help on help": -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= WELCOME TO THE HELP SYSTEM The help system is a simple user interface to display help contents to the user. It can be accessed from the world menu using "Tools" -> "Help Browser" or by evaluating 'HelpBrowser open' in a workspace. There is a predefined mechanism allowing you to have help contents stored as source code using methods in specific help provider classes. This allows to manage the help texts using the standard development tools. But this is only one possible representation. Yes, this is a good solution. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Maybe the last line can be deleted. Even better, replaced by the email of the author. [Pharo-project] 'file:spaceTally.st' asUrl retrieveContents should work?

Hi...I was running a pharo headless in Mac OS running something like this: ./Pharo/VM/Squeak\ 4.2.5beta1U.app/Contents/MacOS/Squeak\ VM\ Opt -headless Pharo/imagenes/Pharo-1.1-11411dev10.07.1/Pharo-1.1-11411dev10.07.1.image spaceTally.st And I come to the problem that there is an error while trying to process spaceTally.st. This file is a text file that just contains "SpaceTally new printSpaceAnalysis" Now....to conclude, the problem is that according to the wonderful and nice CodeLoader (I really hate this class...I promise I will do something with it) this: 'file:spaceTally.st' asUrl retrieveContents should answer me the contents ("SpaceTally new printSpaceAnalysis") ...but instead nil is returned. The file exist. Is this wrong? is it expected? how can I fix it ? Thanks!! Mariano

To run the test-suite for Magma 1.1r2 in Pharo: - Proceed past two warnings about "FlapTab" when loading Magma. - Revert FileDirectory>>#fileExists: to the prior version. - Remove #testClassSchemaUpgrades. - Load OSProcess. The second and third steps, above, I believe may be regressions in Pharo 1.1. In Pharo 1.1: FileDirectory default fileExists: '/bin/sh' "---> false" but the file does, indeed, exist as a soft-link. Squeak answers true and, I'll bet, so does Pharo 1.0, so I'm not sure if there is a problem here or not. #testClassSchemaUpgrades tests Magma's ability to keep up with class-schema changes in the image. Usually class-schemas change only in development, not production systems so maybe it's not a big deal. But still, it can be very convenient develop new class schemas while connected to a persistent Magma store. Magma makes use of the SystemChangeNotifier to do this. I don't know if Pharo cleaned something with SystemChangeNotifier or a regression happened, but I don't have time to debug it right now. Certainly, if there is a problem with Magma I will fix it, but I'm not convinced of that yet. - Chris

Same question.....this RecenSubmissions will be part of PharoCore isn't it? is it already integrated?
