Hello all, I was recently reminded of network problems, such as a need to force the use of the "old network" on at least some Linux machines, and that I have had mixed results on Windows (not sure what is causing grief there, but suspects include 2k3 vs. xp, bad network setup in general and ipv6 in particular). So far, I have only one useful method that establishes a connection queue, then uses SocketStream to connect to is as locahost, enters a loop on #getConnectionOrNil, and then finally does some I/O. As I said, results are mixed. Another test that needs to be done is split the client and server across a real network. I can do that (perhaps subject to weird constraints) between win2k, 2k3 and Linux. I tend to think of Linux as the client, but I might be able to flip that around. My expectation (I can't believe I'm typing this<g>) is that Squeak will perform better than Pharo, only because of the "new network" changes, which I believe to be the cause of the problems. I envision something like a friendly root kit: get each machine to download both Pharo and Squeak, and install a small .mcz into each image. The idea is to allow many of us to try this on different networks and platforms, and to merge the results. For remote testing, there would probably need to be a server class with start/stop methods, and the client side test methods would hopefully log what they can. On successful remote conversation, the client should be able to automatically log details about the server, having read the details over the network. Suggestions on how to build this would be greatly appreciated. Can it all be done with Sunit, or is that asking too much? Bill

Hi fokls: Let's do the last effort. We have little failing tests in new Dev image. We even have all the OB tests in green!! thanks Lukas Now, the current failing tests are: - ProcessSpecificTest has two tests: testDynamicVariable and testLocalVariable both fails when the first time that are run. However, if I re run them, they are green. The same happens with MCPackageTest >> testUnload - testUndeclare Here I have a problem with OB for example. OBPluggableService is used in OBDefinitionPanelTest >> scanCommands: but OBPluggableService doesn't exist. I don't know where it is that class. - OBButtonBarTest >> testLayout is failing in "self assert: rects third right <= bar right" because "rects third right" answers 402 and "bar right " ansers 400. - There is also ObjectFinalizerTests testFinalizationOfEquals As it is says here: http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=1564 Ok, any help you can give would be cool. Played with Metacello: 1. there are various typos in the lessons of the tutorial (looks like it was really written in a hurry) 2. there are two special groups introduced in lesson10 "default" and "ALL" - why in a different case? 3. if these are special then it would be nice to have (MetacelloTutorialConfig project version: '1.0') loadAll. (MetacelloTutorialConfig project version: '1.0') loadDefault. 4. lesson11Author Is the author the initials or the full name? When I drag a window in latest core it is not fully painted. I get white rectangles at any place where usually text is displayed (browser code pane, category list and the like). Hi, I've always found the need to copy/paste object (not string) between say, an inspector/explorer and a workspace. So I did a small class called ObjectBuffer and some extension that provide this fonctionnality (see the attached picture). I added menu command so that 'buffer it' is accessible from text selection, inspector and explorer. I doubt the implementation is optimal but this is working so I decided to share and see if people would like it too To get the object stored: self buffer or ObjectBuffer buffer hth, -- CÃ©drick
