In order to try it out, do the following: * Get a copy of http://ftp.squeak.org/3.10/Squeak3.10-7159-basic.zip * Fire up Monticello and point it at http://squeaksource.com/MCUpdateTest * Load the latest MonticelloConfigurations package from there and ONLY that package (the fixes included are a strict prerequisite for this to work) Now run the following code: MCMcmUpdater updateFromRepositories: #( 'http://squeaksource.com/MCUpdateTest' ). This will go to the repository and discover that there is update-ar. 1.mcm and update-ar.2.mcm. It will load the first, find that there is nothing to do, move on to the second. The second has actually re- ordered the Exceptions and the Morphic package to allow for loading of a modification enabling SystemProgressMorph to change its label. It then uses the configuration to update all the remaining listed packages (and you can see the effect of the updated label right away). If we'd find that at some point the order needs to be changed to be able to load a particular modification, we would just issue an update.mcm with the new order. Hope this illustrates what I am imagining for an update mechanism using Monticello. Cheers, - Andreas

[Pharo-project] running Pharo headless as service on Windows.

Hi all, We're attempting to run a Pharo image as Headless as a Service on Windows XP. We've successfully done this before, but now we're using a later image (and exupery vm) it is unable to fully initialize. Squeak.exe is visible in Task manager. I don't even know where to start looking for more information so any help is appreciated :) I know it's not working because it is only supposed to start, run some specs/tests, then exit the image. When running this manually in the command prompt, it behaves as expected (with and without the -headless opt) but when run as service (SYSTEM user) it starts, but does nothing. Presumably because of Morphic and no user environment for SYSTEM? [Pharo-project] update to OCompletion

Dear Pharo users, I fixed a few things in OCompletion: -When completing class names, performance should be improved when scrolling the list of possibilities. -Pressing tab when there are no matches in the cache of recently used entries will bring up the normal completion menu. -Fixed issue when on rare occasions the selected item in the menu would be out of sync with the entries and cause a walkback. [Pharo-project] VM buid from source on debian linux - pls help

Dear list, lenny (clean and new), GCC, http://squeakvm.org/unix/release/Squeak-3.10-5.src.tar.gz: "make" yields - disabledPlugins.c:21: error: redefinition of 'RomePlugin_exports' and stops. Same result with svn export http://squeakvm.org/svn/squeak/tags/unix-3.10-5 or svn co http://squeakvm.org/svn/squeak/trunk squeak-svn I cannot find a working source package for a current vm. Can somebody please give me some hints how/where/from whom to get a current working source package for a vm on debian linux? Best regards, Andreas
