Dear List, This morning, Jannik and I were surprised by the class RuntimeStorage. RuntimeStorage>>initialize: capacity byGroup := Dictionary new: 24. byName := IdentityDictionary new: 10000. elements := OrderedCollection new: capacity Why byName reference an identify dictionary? Why not a dictionary? Names are usually accessed through their name as a String apparently (e.g., importing Smalltalk packages keys entities with a String). Should entities be accessed through a symbol instead of a string? If entities are stored in an identity dictionary, then names must be accessed with a symbol. If entities are to be accessed with a string, then a dictionary should be used instead of an identitydictionary. [Pharo-project] About all test pass modal dialog

Hello , i made a change set that removes the 'All Test pass!' modal dialog, that pops out up when running successful tests on the system browser. In my opinion, removing modal dialogs is a good thing whenever possible. So its sufficient with the icon turning green to know that the test/s passed. In case of any errors/failures it behaves just like before Please let me know if this mailing list is the proper recipient for this type of mails. Saludos, Fernando .

Hello, I installed Nile from the Universe. I wonder if it's a) my image or if b) Nile/ c) Pharo Traits is broken? For instance, NSCollectionStreamTest gives me an error: 'A class or trait does not properly resolve a conflict between multiple traits it uses.'

Hi guys I want to do something else than integrating fixes. So I will harvest traits, removal of powermanagement, Streams and flush the inbox. After I will rest and write stuff I have too. Stef

[Pharo-project] Another issue with new events

I unsure if it because of my intrusions.. but it happens second time when i hit 'save the image'. I can't give a textual trace, because at the moment when error appears, image is no longer able to receive the events. Image are saved OK, but then it going through warm startup and throws this error. Now i know what is wrong, and the troublemaker is my code. :) The Delay instance of EventPollingFetcher are created just once, and then reused in event loop. At the time when image saved, its already scheduled in Delay, but then new eventpolling fetcher get installed in new process, and same delay got rescheduled , which leads to this error. Btw, i just found that saved image, has same problems - it throws the same error just a bit later after startup :) One solution is to create a new delay each time we need to wait: (Delay forMilliseconds: EventPollDelay) wait. another, is to make sure that given delay is not scheduled, by sending #unschedule to it at the time when it reinitializing event fetcher. -- Best regards, Igor Stasenko AKA sig.
