Is there a bug in the way previous Workspace contents are retrieved?

When I click on the small arrow in the corner of a workspace to get the previous contents, I am unable to get back the present contents. It is as though the contents from a different and probably closed Workspace is what shows up on the list and the current text in the workspace is lost forever. -- Frank Church ======================= http://devblog.brahmancreations.com

Are comments allowed in class definitions?

Whenever I create a class, add a comment and 'accept it' the comment is removed from the definition. With methods it is fine. I am using the Pharo 1.4 Summer Edition. Is that standard behaviour? -- Frank Church ======================= http://devblog.brahmancreations.com

BlockClosure>>isClean bug?

Hi all, I was wondering if there is a bug in BlockClosure>>isClean. As I understand it (see method comment below), the code below should evaluate to false as it closes over foo, but it does not. Here is the comment for isClean: "Answer if the receiver does not close-over any variables other than globals, and does not ^-return (does not close over the home context). Clean blocks are amenable to being created at compile-time." | foo| foo := Time now. How to prevent SystemWindow from overriding the color of a Morph?

Hi, when i open a Morph via openInWindow in a SystemWindow it's color is overriden by the SystemWindow or the UITheme (i suppose). See attachment for illustration (the Morph is indeed displayed in the Window, but white). Should i file a bug? Is this a feature? Can i somehow avoid this behaviour? incrementing a dictionary value

Is there a more elegant way to increment the value of a dictionary entry than what I have done in "this line" below? elements := #( 1 1 2 2 2 2 3 3 3 3 3 3) asOrderedCollection. elementCounter := Dictionary new. elements do: [ :key | elementCounter at: key put: (elementCounter at: key ifAbsent: [ 0 ]) + 1 ]. "this line" elementCounter inspect. "--> a Dictionary(1->2 2->4 3->6 )" cheers -ben

Fuel - How to ignore instances of a class

Hi list, I read in the documentation of Fuel that you can implement #fuelAccept: to prevent instances of a class from being serialized, but what I'd like is to ignore those instances, not to raise an error when trying to serialize them. I tried with a visitSubstitution by nil, but it brought big trouble after serializing, materializing and trying to serialize again. Thanks! p.s. Using fuel 1.8.1 loaded from the latest configuration in ss3. -- Bernat Romagosa.

the amazing Tools > Finder > Examples tool

Just wanting to relate a recent experience using Examples in the Finder, since this is a great tool that I didn't learn how to use for a long time. I have just now again been pleasantly surprised and mildly amazed that it works a well as it does. Perhaps there is someone out there might gain from an introduction to its use... I am creating a mouse-over popup using Rossal, for which I needed to format a string to a maximum width. This is something I thought likely already done within the standard image but before rushing to the mail list to ask an old-hand where I might find it, I thought I'd just try... 1. World Menu > Tools > Finder 2. Choosing "Examples" from the pull down menu. 3. In the search-input-field typing: 'abcdef' . 3 . 'abc', String cr , 'def' 4. Clicking the <Search> button. which gave me one result String>>withNoLineLongerThan: that was exactly what I needed. You will notice that the search input field is an array of three items: * 'abcdef' - this first item is the receiver of the message * 3 - middle items are parameters to the message * 'abc', String cr , 'def' - the last item is the message-return-value The really cool part of this is being able to construct the message-return-value as an expression, to place a newline carriage-return where I would expect it to appear. cheers -ben

Deploying Pharo 2 onwards applications (commercial) on Win platforms

Hi I am new to Pharo ... What would be normal / optimum method of deploying Pharo applications on Win platforms (so as to give a native look and deployment feel).
