Hello Pharoers we are running building a tool to help understanding if class names are consistently named in a project. We run and are running xp with some of you. Now I was thinking that the idea and the tool could interest many of you. So if you want to run the xp here is the text: Nour is developing a tool to support the understanding of the coherence of class names. We would like to invite you to do a small experiment. The tool presents a visualisation of the distribution of the prefix/suffix (first/last word) extracted from class names. The idea is to detect inconsistencies in class names and correct them for a healthy evolution of the system. XP: === You can do the xp with other colleagues, it would be nice is you can do separately and then discuss together. But this is up to you. 30 or 60 minutes of your precious time should be enough to do the experiment which is planned as follows: - Read the pdf. This support contains detailed information and principles of the ClassNames Distribution. - how to load the tools - Help for the tool also provides a small summary of these principles as a reminder. - To have detailed feedback from which we can extract the necessary analysis, we would also like you to screen record during the whole experiment, and to talk freely. - Use the tool to detect inconsistencies, write down the changes you would like to make and discuss the classes you would like to rename. - Send us feedback (videos + number of renaming + ///) - Any other feedback is welcome :) we can help Let us know if you encounter problems. This experiment (with your feedbacks, the way you use the tool, the changes you would like to doâ¦) is part of the validation of our tool that we would like to describe in the journal paper we are currently preparing. I have been using 9.0 for a few hours and now I get an error on startup as follows: I havenât changed anything other than loading up Seaside, STON Reader and IniFile. Thoughts? David

STON reader problem

OK, so I have installed Pharo 9.0 with the M1 VM and everything is nice and quick. I am porting my code across and I have a problem that involves STON Reader. I use this to convert my objects for storage in my text based database. I canât run my code because STON Reader fails when reading in one of the objects. The contents are as follows: "{#entryName:'PAYPAL *COSYFEET',#entryDate:Date['2021-01-25Z'],#transactionID:'202101250001',#entryAmount:-5041216832887849/140737488355328s8,#entryCategory:nil,#entryDescription:'35314369001 GB , 5959 22JAN21',#match:'Nâ}â The errors is this: Character 122 is at the conjunction of the 4 and 9 in the ewntryAmount: 5041216832887849/140737488355328s8, Any help on this would be great. I have a few thousand entries to fix if there is a problem with the file (although my code works fine with this file under 8.0) David Pennington

Hi there. I am currently using v8.0 on a new M1 MacBookAir. When I save the image I keep getting a message telling me that my VM is too old and to download a new one. I have looked in my Pharo Launcher but there is no new one there. What do I do please? David

Announcements on Traits methods injection ?

Hello all ! I'm looking for Announcements related to Traits which are triggered when classes methods from a uses Trait are injected into a Classe (of course using this Trait). I haven't find equivalent to that, there is Announcement when classes methods are edited into a Trait but not into a Traits user. For the moment I'm using a custom pragma in my Trait class methods to have the information about the classe method modification but when the pragma is triggered from the Trait, Trait users aren't not yet updated (methods are not yet injected or linked and not available to use). After when users are updated (with adding the classes methods from the Trait) the pragma is not triggered. Thanks for your help ! Cheers, Pierre

In TinyBlogEn-gitc55a88d.pdf on page 11 (2.7 Post Queries): TestCase subclass: #TBPostTest instanceVariableNames: '' classVariableNames: '' package: 'TinyBlog-Tests' Every time I save this new class, it ends up in the TinyBlog package, not TinyBlog-Tests. I see that many other packages have *-Tests packages where their tests live. It seems to test OK so itâs not a stopper for me, but I get an error: âTest class not in a package with name ending with â-Testsâ" Iâd like to understand. Iâm running: Pharo8.0.0 build: 1124, commit: 0932da8 On MacOS 11.3.1. M1 MbPro

Bootstrap4 package or Willow

Hi this is a slightly open question but I want to have views to help me on choose the more appropriate Bootstrap4 package for a large Business Application: A. gh:astares/Seaside-Bootstrap4 ... and ...
