Hi all, I downloaded pharo 3.0 and pharo 2.0 right now and I can't run both apps. I get following message for Pharo 2.0 (For Pharo 3.0 appears same message): "âPharo2.0.appâ is damaged and canât be opened. You should move it to the Trash. Google Chrome.app downloaded this file today at 2:39 from www.pharo-project.org." NativeBoost Questions while wrapping FMOD

I'm wrapping the FMOD cross-platform audio library. The code is MIT and lives at http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~SeanDeNigris/FMOD ======== Problem #1: ======== I'm calling into the FMOD library with: primStoreIsPlaying: channelHandle in: isPlayingHandle <primitive: #primitiveNativeCall module: #NativeBoostPlugin> "FMOD_RESULT FMOD_Channel_IsPlaying( FMOD_CHANNEL *channel, bool *isplaying);" ^ self nbCall: #(FMOD_RESULT FMOD_Channel_IsPlaying(NBExternalAddress channel, NBExternalAddress isPlayingHandle)). I call the above with: isPlaying | isPlaying | isPlaying := NBExternalAddress new. self primStoreIsPlaying: channel in: isPlaying. ^ isPlaying value > 0. isPlaying is always 0. The method works directly from C with: int isPlaying = 1; while (isPlaying) { FMOD_Channel_IsPlaying(channel, &isPlaying); } I also tried changing the callout signature to "... bool* isPlayingHandle)" and passing "isPlaying := true." instead of using the NBExternalAddress stuff. I have a few more questions, but this is the most pressing as it's holding up any further development. MCRepository can notify by email, did you know?

Hi, I just discovered this feature and wanted to share it: When a version is saved, the file repositories check if a file named 'notify' exists in the repository directory [1]. If it exists, then it reads email addresses from that file and send emails notifying the new version [2]. We noticed with Camillo that this seems to be the only usage of SMTPClient in the image. All lives in one directory. I also use Linux boxes, for Ubuntu follow: http://www.pharo-project.org/pharo-download/ubuntu to get the launcher. Note that this currently will install an old image, so you have to load newer packages afterwards in the image or exchange the image. Installation will surely be simplified in the future. How I use it ============ Just launch the Pharo launcher image using the platform specific VM. Usually for "end user experience" the launcher opens in full world mode - so you see no Pharo background/world menu - only the launcher. Initially on a new computer the left side with local images is empty. On the right side are the images that are available on the web. Note that there are refresh buttons at the top of the list. Click "Refresh" in the right list to fetch all available images from the web. Select the image you like and download it. For instance you can download "Pharo3.0" -> "30587" which is the latest image as of today. Note that also the images from contribution CI are available. So you can easily download "Artefact", "Moose", ... images if you like. It will download the image into a specific directory somewhere in your users home directory. Each image gets an own folder. Use the "Show in folder" menu item if you want to open this location (may not yet work on all platforms) After download you can either "Launch" the image from the context menu in the right list. This will open the new image and close the launcher image. So you are ready to start working. What I do typically do is to "Copy" the image BEFORE I do any work and name it differently like "30587-MyStuff". Then I Launch the new copy and work with it, later throw it away or try that loading after commits works within new fresh images, ... Now === My HD is now much cleaner - all images are in a central place and I need only one icon/starter on the desk to open. PharoLauncher is also a very handy tool to download specific image update versions if you want to reproduce or fix Pharo bugs. I also associated one of the unused laptop keys with PharoLauncher - so the world of Smalltalk is just one click away... Things to know: =============== At the bottom there is a button to open a settings browser with specific settings for PharoLauncher. There is an option that enables the IDE again - so you can inspect the code or fix a bug. If it does not launch on your box then set a break in PhLImage>>launch to debug. Also note that it does not fit with the "Save as" image style - since each launcher image has to be in a new directory so far. So either use the "Copy" image, then "Launch" and then only "Save" in the target image or copy the "Saved as" image in a new folder and refresh the Launcher view on the right side. When you develop for it ======================= Either use the latest image from CI and enable the IDE as written before. You can also download the latest also in a Pharo 3.0 image. Just use the ConfigurationOfPharoLauncher from http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~Pharo/PharoLauncher Then evaluate "PharoLauncher open". Currently it was rewritten using Spec for the UI, also all the actions are rewritten using Command Pattern so you can extend the buttons, menues if you like. Hope this helps a little bit Bye T.

Hi Damien, I like the PhLFixedURLsTemplateGroup you just added to directly reference specific urls like Pharo 3.0 latest. I corrected a problem with Settings. Also I think its useful to be explicit about the ones that refer to 'latest' so I made that change. Could you review these. The next great thing would be to allow users to add their own fixed urls without coding. btw, I was going to follow your example to change PhLTemplateGroupRepository>>refreshLocal to >>refreshFast but it seems the only sender is itself, and also inserted breakpoints do not trigger. Looks like it is surplus to requirements. cheers -ben

Regarding your question: #tbsButton returns a button as the name says. TBSButtonTag is a subclass of WAButtonTag because the offical examples are also using <button> See http://getbootstrap.com/components/#btn-groups But a button should also support #callback: So it is not an anchor by default. Make sure to have a #form: around it and #children is correct. Otherwise callbacks will not work. Note: you can also leave out the whole bootstrap wrapping part and use Bootstrap styles directly, for instance with an anchor: html anchor class: 'btn btn-default'; callback: ... with: [] Haven tested since I have no image at hand - but should work out of the box. One could easily wrap this into a #tbsAnchorButton and "WAAnchorTag subclass: #TBSAnchorButtonTag" supporting the same API. Contribute code + tests if you like. I added you on STHub. Bye T.

[Athens] Finding if a line passes through a specific pixel .

So here we are with my first challenge. I am making Hyperion, a vector graphics editor using Athens , so far I have a nice line with several segments, I have added nice handlers to allow me to move the points (start and end of each segment) of the line around with the mouse, but now I want each time I click on a segment itself to create a new point.This way I will create more points with the mouse and bring more detail to the shape of the line / path. In order to do that I will have to check that the line passes through a specific pixel. Or to be more correct that the place that mouse has clicked is where my path passes through. How I do that ? Can Athens do that ? Can athens tell me which pixels my path passes through ? At first I thought to return the Athens surface as a Form but the form will give me back the colors of each pixel on a specific place, but that does not guarantee that my line / path passes through those pixels.

Hi Damien, I've just noticed that the latest PharoLauncher has two <Refresh> buttons in the status bar. This since the their superclass is PhLGeneralCommand rather than PhLImageCommand or PhLTemplateCommand classes. Is this intentional? cheers -ben

Bad UT8 encoding got with a SQLite3 query

Yes it is not implemented. As in any other open source project it is a question of time and contributions. History of SQLite3 package is much much older than Pharo - original implementation was for Squeak (Avi Bryant's SQLite (v.2) wrapper), I then packaged it up as an MCZ so it did not get lost and a repository on SqS was created. Andreas Raab then contributed to it, he was at my knowledge the only one who really used it in own projects. Later after the closing of SqS was announced I moved the code to STHub. As I already mentioned - code is rather old, based on unmaintained FFI and it should better be redone using NativeBoost because I'm sure meanwhile also SQLite library already made some progress.
