A related issue is the enforcing of protocol. Currently, the RPackage implementation doesnât allow other class-side definitions of #packages. There was no test for that, so all images with Grease loaded (all Moose & Seaside based images) fail silently. In Slice 12324 I added a test checking that no class below Object redefines the method. Building Pharo using Interpreter Class

My freind Dimitri was not able to post his message. I am working with him on this. _______________________________________________________________________________ Hello, as part of a Seminar in the University im trying to build the PharoVM. According to the README file here ([1]) I was able to generate and to build the VM successfully. Now I would like to build the VM without Cog or Stack-to-Register optimizations... The problem here is, that I could not find any config class (which is a subclass of CPlatformConfig), that provides the right configurations and allows to build the VM without errors. I have tried to modify PharoUnixConfig(because it was the default config class), but unfortunately the build failes when the compiler tries to compile gcc3x-interp.c. Could somebody help me with this problem? How should I configure my own Config class? Basically our Group tries to implement an object table in Pharo and we want to use (and modify) the basic Interpreter class. Obtain the name of the disk unit

Hi, I need to do a validation and check if the image is running in an usb with a spefic name. I found how to determine the execution path: FileSystem disk workingDirectory, but I wolud like to obtain the disk name and didn't find a message for that. Does anybody know how to do this?

Mongo cache vs database objects

Hi Esteban, all, I work with mongo daily an it works fine, I am very happy with it. As you told me, with >>VORepository current reset. I can force re loading all objects from database and resetting the cache completely. This is helpful for development eg. after changing the magritte descriptions. My question: Is there a possibility to make a query and tell voyage that THIS query should be done within the database and NOT within the cached objets? And that all objects and the child objects from this query are loaded freshly from database into the cache. My concrete situation: I want that if the user logs in, his objects are loaded from database and NOT from cache. This means the person, his trips etc. And the question coming along with this: How long does the cache keeps objects/when are they reseted (except the >>VORepository current reset)? If I would never take a new image and never make a reset, would all objects remain in the image (and the database objects wold never be read)? In this case what about the size of the image? I guess it was just an example, but seems like it should be added, no? In http://forum.world.st/object-finalization-td3771196.html Igor suggested that the key is to do: WeakRegistry default add: obj. This guarantees? that #finalize will be called when the object is garbage collected. I'm asking regarding my recent work wrapping the FMOD sound library with NativeBoost. I'm thinking my NBExternalObjects should release their resources when no longer referenced. I want to say: FmodSound>>#finalize self primReleaseSound: handle. So I've pieced together that I would have to also write: FmodSound>>new instance := super new whatever; beFinalizable; yourself. Object>>#beFinalizable WeakRegistry default add: self. Am I correct that: 1. The above code would cause the resource to be safely released when the sound object was garbage collected? 2. This approach would be a good way to manage these types of resources? Any hints would be appreciated as to the best way to accomplish managing these...
