Hi, i have a private rewriting rule. unfortunately it shows up in the lower pane of the SystemBrowser which makes no sense at all, since it is not intended for use outside of the program using it. how do i make it invisible for that part of the systembrowser? and btw where are the rules collected for that part? werner

How to grab a debug on Syntax Error?

Hi I'm loading some old code to migrate to github and I got an syntax error. The support is a bit terrible. You get a pop up but now idea how to do anything with it. Can we access the stack? We should really improve that part. Now I'm using an old Pharo 40 and trying to guess where was the difference in synta (probably #( #3)) is not allowed anymore and republish a new version. Stef

On the grapevine I hear that over the next few years BHP are recruiting 2000 people for their Digital Technology Revolution using IoT in the mining/energy/resources industry. "We are doubling our permanent workforce across the globe and have roles based in Australia, Chile (Santiago), Singapore and The United States (Houston)" http://careers.bhpbilliton.com/cw/en/job/789065/technology-revolution Forbe's rate BHP the world's 168th largest company and BHP seem to want to throw some serious money at innovation. As part of this BHP is sponsoring an online hackathon "Digital Tribes" https://www.unearthed.solutions/digital-tribes-perth/ based out of Perth - my home town. Applications are open to anyone around the world and will focus on IoT challenges. Whether you are a student, working full time or joining from anywhere around the world, if you are a "digital native" with hardware and software skills, then this one is for you. Challenge 1: Can you enable operational awareness on civil equipment to achieve compliance to our mine plans? Challenge 2: Can you design a prototype which operates in an ad hoc network suited for distributed safety devices? So the task is probably going to be something to do with location awareness of personelle around haul packs (look for the people in the photos) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haul_truck It would be really cool to get some Pharo into the mix of solutions. Regardless of individual team success or even want a job with BHP, Pharo could gain a lot from simple exposure to some of BHP's key innovation decision makers. This would ideally suit those with Pharo+RaspberryPi+hardware experience (I'm looking at you, robotics guys!) but also (I'm guessing) skills in data science and GPS-like triangulation algorithms. The first thing to do is to apply as an individual... Registrations: 12 June - 18 June Event dates: 30 June - 14 July BHP will then form the teams to get a broad range of skills in each team. For remote participants they aim to form teams in the same location or time zones. So I get the feeling that when they mention "digital native" they are looking for youth, maybe students or new graduates (sub-30yrs?) and are looking for the dynamics of how participants work together. So I think the focus is against existing teams and more on individuals. There is no harm in anyone registering (we can swarm them with "Pharo" just to make them curious), but particularly encourage your high quality students to apply, and even select a few local non-Pharoers with expertise you might lack. [Modeling with Pharo] How to model a simple human interaction.

Hey all.. I got my first paying gig that i am able to use pharo with, and i am on the last leg before calling it complete. Hereâs what I need to do.. This application accepts SMS text messages. It allows the user to send images via MMS and place an order to a print house for those images.. Â it then compiles the order, and submits it to the order processing system and makes the prints. The last thing I need to zero in on is handling the interaction. Believe it or not, I have never modeled such an interaction. The interaction goes: - user sends images{s) - bot says âthanksâ and asks if there are more - user types âdoneâ or sends more - on âdoneâ bot asks for print size - bot says âthanksâ and the interaction is done. order is processed. my first inclination is to use a state machine, progressing through order each time the user enters âdoneâ..Â does this sound reasonable, or is there a better model/design pattern for this interaction? I got a seg fault when I tried to execute some OSSubProcess code in Pharo 6.0. Namely, | process | process := OSSUnixSubprocess new command: '/bin/cat'; redirectStdin; redirectStdout; run. process stdinStream nextPutAll: 'we are testing!'; nextPutAll: 'we again!'; close. process waitForExit. process stdoutStream upToEndOfFile inspect. process closeAndCleanStreams. dynamic interaction with Mondriam

Hi all, I would like to do some visualisations with Mondrian where you change the visualisation by selecting actions. For instance you have : b := RTMondrian new. b shape rectangle withTextAbove. b nodes:(1 to: 5). b layout grid. b edges connectFrom: [ :e | e + 1 ]. b build. b view then you can click a button to: 1 display/hide the labels above the elements. 2 display/hide some elements (all odd numbers for instance) 3 display/hide connections between elements. I saw a visualisation in the Roassal examples where you can add elements in a dynamic stack grapher. So I presume it is possible to do the same with other types of visus. Any hints? Teapot: Managing authentication by a third party (Fossil)

Hi, I'm trying to make some test on a distributed wiki provided by Fossil as a backend for storage/auth, Mustache + Material Design Lite for the frontend and Teapot using as middleware for logic and connecting frontend and backend. Teapot is connected with Fossil via JSON and domain objects are stored as Fossil wiki pages. So far the experiment is going well, but now I'm wondering about how to make authentication. In my experiments I use the Fossil user and password to get an auth token that is used via the Fossil's JSON API to make all the operations that require permissions on the repository and now I wonder how this strategy should be implemented for "real" (for the tests, I read the password data from a local temporal file). - There is some User Management Framework or project for Teapot or Zinc, without going to more complex frameworks like Seaside or Aida? - Should I have some "Sessions" object that stores logged users, passwords and/or auth tokens inside the image and deletes them once the user have logoff and/or on a time basis? - Any other strategy or lite user auth framework that I have not thought ? Any advice or experience in dealing with similar scenario is greatly appreciated. Cheers, Offray

Hi there, A Dr. Geo user on Ubuntu 64bits 16.04 got that buggy rendering of the canvas, then on some situation the rendering completely stop on a red screen, with a stack showing may be a zero divide error. I did not get access to the PharoDebog yet. Fonts on the screenshot is not right too. Could it be a mixed problem between FreeType and Cairo? Any first though on the issue welcome. Given the fact Dr. Geo is still based on Pharo3 and it works pretty fine on my old Ubuntu 12.07 derived system, it may be time to port the newer Pharo6. Congrats for the Pharo6 release.
