Hi, I've just uploaded a new screencast which introduces SandstoneDb (and also HelpSystem). http://pharocasts.blogspot.com/2010/04/sandstonedb-simple-activerecord-styl… Note this is my first one with subtitles. There's a link so you can download it and translate it (some people have asked for that). I've used SubtitleEditor (http://home.gna.org/subtitleeditor/) but I don't really like it. Do you know a better software on Linux ? Implementing a "prototype" in Pharo

Hi, I'm trying to creating a concept similar to "prototype" (like prototype-oriented programming) in Pharo. What I want is an object's methodDictionary to be stored in itself. So when I send a message to an instance, Pharo should look in the instance's dictionary (as opposed to class' dictionary) and call method stored there. Closest thing I managed to do was create an anonymous class (subclass on my custom class) for each instance and return instance of this class, and store the anonymous class in the instance so I can work with it. Is there any other way to do it, without modifying compiler/VM or writing custom compiler? If not, please give some pointers where to look for some information about "core" of Pharo. How To Bind To External Libraries in Pharo ?

Hi Experts, How can I connect to libraries of the type that I would "include" in a C program? Must I re-compile Pharo to include them or is there some other way to do this at run-time? I'm looking at some Gnome libraries (GTK+, Gstreamer) which I would like to use from Pharo. Thanks, Bill

Socket>>accept

Hi, I'm trying to implement a simple server. What I want the code to do is as follows: * Create a socket and listen on a port * Wait for an incoming connection * When a connection is received, fork a process to deal with it and go back to waiting for connections. I believe the following code should accomplish this (I have omitted the loop and the fork because I want to get it working for a single connection before I start with multiple connections!): server := Socket new. server listenOn: 1234. client := server accept. However when I run this I get Socket(Object)>>primitiveFailed. Examining the stack trace reveals the source to be this method: Socket>>primAcceptFrom:receiveBufferSize:sendBufSize:semaIndex: <primitive: 'primitiveSocketAccept' module: 'SocketPlugin'> ^self primitiveFailed When I take a look in /usr/local/lib/squeak/3.11.3-2135 there are lots of plugins, but no SocketPlugin. Swazoo seems to work fine without it and all of the tests in the NetworkTests package pass.

removing packages

Hello everyone: I downloaded a package called Asteroid and loaded it into my image. It was a .sar file so i used the install button in file manager and everything worked ok. Now i want to remove it from the image but i don't know how to do it. I've tried deleting the changesets and thought and unload option in monticello context menu: first thing didn't worked, second launched some kind of error console and I had to close the VM. Any hint on how to solve this? Thanks in advance
