Pharo 7.0 image size

Ciao, i have a Pharo 7.0 alpha build 1262. I development a Seaside application. The size of the image keeps increasing, without an apparent reason. Starting from 94 MB, now after rebooting and save the image the relative size is 252 MB. How can I understand what is happening? How can I analyze the data to understand who is occupying more and more space? The other day the system generated a warning that in practice said that there was no more space and that image had to be started with a particular value. Some considerations ? Thanks, Dario

Pharo Days - anyone going on Wed night (3rd) and where are folks staying?

Hi everyone - Iâve managed to sort out a family pass to attend Pharo Days, so keen to maximise my fun/learning/involvement. I was looking at trains on Wed afternoon - and leaving after lunch get me in Lille late afternoon - so I was wondering (if like a few years ago) any other are around earlier and going for supper (hacking code before supper) and generally socialising? Iâm also curious if others have thought about accommodation (there is lots of reasonable accommodation in Lille centre near the main station - which was pretty good last time I went) - anyone booked anything yet, and Iâll try and position myself in a similar vicinity to aid with the first question. [ANN] Minimal telepharo

Iâm working on having a telepharo image based on the pharo minimal image. With the help of pavel and Allex I prepared a usable artefact on github that can be used. Both images are based on Pharo8. The release file https://github.com/noha/pharo-minimal/releases/download/0.1/telepharo.zip <https://github.com/noha/pharo-minimal/releases/download/0.1/telepharo.zip> contains a 32 bit minimal telepharo server image. It is 12,1 MB in size. And there is a 64 bit full pharo telepharo client image in the archive that can be used to connect to the minimal server one. I did not include the vms in the archive. These you need to install separately. To run the server do $ ./pharo server.image eval --no-quit "TlpRemoteUIManager registerOnPort: 40423â The client.image can be started as usual. In a playground do remotePharo := TlpRemoteIDE connectTo: (TCPAddress ip: #[127 0 0 1] port: 40423) remotePharo openPlayground. To be connected to the minimal server image. OS X bundle, some progress

Hi, I did some progress on the Dr.Geo bundle for OS X. The Mac admin of my school told me to download from Safari and authorized the drgeo.eu web site (not sure what this exactly does), then we installed the DrGeo.app at the Application location. DrGeo started fine but emit a startup error at the image level, related to stdout. It looks like a stdout file can not be created. The stack is enclosed here. When looking at the execution stack, I could not determine (I have to go teaching) where the image wants to create this stdout file. Any idea or opinion on this stdout matter? How does the SUnit debug view, highlight lower down in the stack?

Iâve been working on improving some of my testing techniques and the tools used to do that, and it highlighted something where Iâm not clear on how it works. Sometime the debugger highlights a failure lower down in the stack (not just the stack frame directly below the signaller). How does it do it? I canât see what it does to achieve this - however curiously it differs between types of assert. I.e. with: self assert: 2 =3 (it just shows the frame below) Yet: self assert: 2 equals: 4 (shows two frames below, and actually directly shows where in the test failed - with no further clicks which is brilliant) The photos (at the end) demonstrate what I mean - and I can see there is a defaultAction in TestFailure that pops open the debugger: defaultAction Processor activeProcess debug: self signalerContext title: self description And if I try and do a similar thing for one of my own exceptions - but wind further down the stack manually (which TestFailure doesât do) like: defaultAction | triggerContext | triggerContext := self signalerContext findContextSuchThat: [ :context | context method selector = #doesNotUnderstand: ]. "Trigger the debugger where the failure happened" Processor activeProcess debug: (triggerContext ifNil: [ self signalerContext ]) title: self messageText This gives me a debugger on the line of the failure (which I like), but the stack above this failure (which in my case was many frames deep) is gone (presumably as contexts only know their parent, and Iâve backed up through the parent chain). This is a bit confusing to understand how you got the error. So Iâm left wondering how #assert:equals: ends up highlighting further down. Iâm missing some concept - and wondering if anyone knows? FUEL serialization to a file

Hi everyone, after playing with FUEL in-memory (byte arrays) for a while, I am ready to attack files. But... that's not so easy. At https://ci.inria.fr/pharo-contribution/job/EnterprisePharoBook/lastSuccessf… I find the basic exxample 'demo.fuel' asFileReference writeStreamDo: [ :aStream | FLSerializer newDefault serialize: 'stringToSerialize' on: aStream binary ]. It fails because ZnCharacterWriteStream does not understand #binary. Browsing around a bit, I found another way: 'demo.fuel' asFileReference writeStreamDo: [ :aStream | FLSerializer newDefault serialize: 'stringToSerialize' on: aStream binary ]. This works fine, the aStream being a ZnBufferedWriteStream. But on larger objects, it ends up failing in FLBufferedWriteStream >> #nextBytePutAll: which sends the message stream nextBytesPutAll: collection But ZnBufferedWriteStream does not understand nextBytesPutAll: because it is not a subclass of Stream for whatever reason. Some further browing showed deprecated classes FileStream etc., and I kind of suspect that file streams in Pharo were changed at some point but FUEL still expects the old behavior. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this, or work around it? Thanks in advance, Konrad

I deleted the earlier thread from my mailbox, so starting a new one. By chance I found http://prog.vub.ac.be/~cderoove/planet/ which is the Planet Smalltalk aggregator hosted by Coen De Roover. It is still running and has the latest entries. Just a bit more work is needed to get planet.smalltalk.org to once again point to this aggregator. Pierce
