Restoring a class via Epicea didn't recompile a reference?

Hi - I think I had this issue a long while back, but I just hit it again (desperately trying to get back into Pharo again)â¦ I was trying out Willow - and had a method like this: initializeContainerView | behaviorDetails scopeSelection | behaviorDetails := IdentifiedWebView forDivNamed: 'behavior-details' containing: WPPagerDutyUserDetailsView new applying: [ :div :constants | â¦. Where I had a class reference to: WPPagerDutyUserDetailsView, I deleted that class thinking I didnât need it and then spotted the above method referenced it and so I brought it back via Epicea. However when I ran my Willow Application, my web page was showing an error message âError, ObsoleteClassWPPagerDutyUserDetailsView does not implementâ¦.â - essentially it seemed like this method was referencing the class I had deleted and not the one I had restored. When I went back to this method and simply reserved it, everything worked properly. I recall Marcus (at the time) mentioning that the Opal compiler was supposed to detect these kinds of changes and rebind things properly - but it seems that this isnât the case - or potentially restoring something from Epicea subverts this? I can raise a bug if its genuine - but Iâm just musing on this at the moment? Tim

Is there a tonel:// format for repos?

Hi - I converted my project to tonel, and am looking to hook it up to my gitlab pipeline, and for older projects I had a run.st <http://run.st/> script that did: Metacello new baseline: 'WillowPagerDuty'; repository: âfiletree://../src'; load. I get a not found error when I run that, is there a new repo type for tonel eg? Metacello new baseline: 'WillowPagerDuty'; repository: 'tonel://../src'; load. Or is this the PR Esteban was working on earlier this month so that filetree can support tonel? If so, it would be very good to get this support as it makes it much easier to write generic scripts to run in CI projects without having to reference branch names to build things (as its simply the source in you git directory that you want to build locally ) Tim

Morphic, Canvas, and Drawing Polygon Borders

I am having some trouble accurately drawing polygons using Morphic and the various Canvas types. My task is to recreate the Mac OS Platinum style buttons, and do be as pixel-accurate as I can. For the basic button, this involves creating a rectangle whose corners are always fattened by 2px on each side, no matter the extent of the underlying morph: â I can achieve this kind of outline when drawing individual lines one at a time with a Canvas: ```smalltalk canvas := FormCanvas extent: 150@30. rect := Rectangle point: (0@0) point: (150@30). vertices := { (rect left)@(rect top + 2). Ideally I can trace this shape as a border, since I'll need to trace yet more additional borders around it (like the "default" button in Platinum, which has a fat complex border). Borders are already kind of complicated, so any help you all can provide would be much appreciated. FYI this same behavior is present in Squeak. -- Eric

Hi, I'm getting this error while trying to prototype some interface with Spec on Moose 6.0: MessageNotUnderstood: ToolDockingBarMorph>>popUpOwner it happens anytime that I'm using displaying a MenuModel and I go to the menu items. I imagine that the menu item is complaining about a lacking pop up message. How can I solve this? Thanks, Offray

How does iceberg handle caching of packages with different versions?

Hi - while Iâve been trying to troubleshoot my tonel build woes - I noticed something that might be a potential problem with baselines not loading the correctly specified version. I was having no luck with GitHub:/repo references (see other thread on this), eg: spec baseline: 'WillowBootstrap' with: [ spec repository: 'github://ba-st/Willow-Bootstrap:v8/source'; loads: #('Deployment') ]; import: 'WillowBootstrap'. So I tried using https equivalents like this: spec baseline: 'WillowBootstrap' with: [ spec repository: 'https://github.com/ba-st/Willow-Bootstrap/tree/v8.0.2/source'; loads: #('Deployment') ]; import: 'WillowBootstrap'. But then I wasnât sure if the newer version of the repository was what I was supposed to use and so I altered my spec to use /v8 (not v8.0.2) spec baseline: 'WillowBootstrap' with: [ spec repository: 'https://github.com/ba-st/Willow-Bootstrap/tree/v8/source'; loads: #('Deployment') ]; import: 'WillowBootstrap'. However when I was looking at the log files of errors, I noticed that when I downgraded my spec to v8 and reran my CI on a fresh image the error message still referenced v8.0.2 . As this was a run on my CI (which is preserving the pharo-cache directory between runs) this looked a lot to me like Iceberg/Metacello is not taking into account version numbers or repo urls when loading things from the file cache? When I blew away the pharo-cache and reran it - it then correctly showed me errors referencing v8 again. Is this a known problem? Tim

Pharo70 session start and silent failures

I am facing a problem with the new SessionManager>>#snapshot:andQuit: code. I have had plenty Pharo70 images that didn't restore anymore as the code is waiting for the "wait" semaphore. For sure it is something my code is doing but could anyone think of ways to make it more robust and handle failures more gracefully? My main concerns are: * When the failure becomes noticeable it is too late. :( * It fails silently. Maybe WorkingSession>>#runStartup: shouldn't rely on the UIManager doing the right thing (before the UI was fully initialized?) * Debugging is hard, there is no indication of why it broke, and getting to the situation of breakage takes a bit of time (installing the baseline..). holger

Just be careful, that privateState thing looks like a Moose only Famix feature.
