Looks Great, congratulations!! I just read it and has a couple of mistakes in the first figures. The return value of the false (2.3, 2.4). Writing XML

Hello, I am attempting to read and write an XML document. Currently I have parsed the document successfully. I have basic navigation and have learned how to modify the XMLDocument. Now I want to write the modified document back to the file system. What I have tried so far is: writer := XMLWriter new. xmldoc document writeXMLOn: writer. writer stream. f := File openForWriteFileNamed: '/home/jimmie/xmldoc.xml'. f nextPutAll: (writer write contents). f flush. f close. It does write an xml document to the file system. However, it has exploded in size. The original is 28mb and is in UTF-8. The newly written file is 112mb and is UTF-32. I do not know why the change in encoding or how to correct or manually set the encoding. Any help in understanding how to correctly write an XML document that I have read and minimally modified would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jimmie

Gofer loads wrong version?

Hello! As I need to load specific version of Glorp with my fix, and I did not find out how to force-override it in my baseline, I tried to load it post-the-baseline via Gofer: (Gofer new smalltalkhubUser: 'DBXTalk' project: 'Glorp') package: 'Glorp'; version: 'Glorp-HerbyVojcik.127'; load. But it actually looks like this: [see attached bogusgofer.png]. OTOH, after the image loads the tests pass and monticello browser looks like this: [see attached mbloaded127.png]. Am I doing something wrong? I am a bit afraid what is actually loaded / if it won't break b/c of inconsistent state. Herby

Let's prepare for Google Code-In 2017 with Pharo Consortium

Hello Pharo-ers ! On behalf of the community, I would like to thank each one of you for their significant contribution in the recently concluded *Google Summer of Code 2017* with *Pharo Consortium*. We aspire to take-off on a long flight after this successful stint. In this spirit, I proposed at ESUG 2017 that we take part in the upcoming *Google Code-In 2017*. GCI is a contest to introduce pre-university students (ages 13-17) to open source software development. Because Google Code-in is often the first experience many students have with open source, the contest is designed to make it easy for students to jump right in with /bite-sized tasks/ (3 to 5 days) having categorised as: Code, Documentation/Training, Outreach/Research, Quality Assurance, or User Interface. Students search for a task from the list created by us that interests them and claim it. They have at least three days to complete it. The student works on the task, getting guidance from mentors, if needed. Once the student is ready, they submit their work for review through the contest website. Mentors from the organisation evaluate the work, provide feedback, and if it's complete, accept it so that student can claim a new task. Otherwise, specific feedback is provided, and the student goes back to improving it. Participants who complete at least 1 task get a digital certificate. Participants who complete 3 or more tasks receive a t-shirt too. At the end of the contest, each organisation chooses five finalists to receive limited edition Google Code-in hoodies. Two finalists from each organisation get to be the grand prize winners and go on a trip to Google Headquarters in California ! The contest runs for about 6-8 weeks in December & January generally. With organisation applications beginning in October/November, we need to be well prepared for this seasonâs application with a hope to get selected. As an open source evangelist and a Pharo developer, I would like to invite all the experienced members to be a part of the "GCI with Pharo Consortium" Team and mentor students. To get added to the âprivate repositoryâ (we need to keep prospective students away from the task list before the program begins ð ) where you can put in your tasks/suggestions kindly EMail me or any of the previously added mentor. How to convert avoiding parser

Hello, Perhaps someone can help me with this problem: I'm saving a key pair in a mariadb/mysql table as follows: Â Â Â str := 'INSERT INTO chaves_de_encriptacao (numero_funcional, chave_privada, chave_publica) '. Â Â Â str := str,'VALUES ('''. Â Â Â str := str, self personId leaId asString, ''', '''. Â Â Â str := str, self keyPair privateKey asAsn1DerBytes asByteArray hex, ''', '''. Â Â Â str := str, self keyPair publicKeyÂ asAsn1DerBytes asByteArray hex,''')'. Â Â Â [ dbConnection execute: str ] on: Exception do: [ ^ false ]. And I'd like to recover the keys (SELECT * FROM chaves_de_encriptacao WHERE numero_funcional = 1010) and then reconvert in order to recover the original keys. Obviously I can do that by writting a parser that will get the hex and bring it back to binary but I'd like to avoid it. Question is: is there a reverse for asByteArray hex?

catalog.pharo.org - 503 service is temporarily unavailable

Hi All, I don't know if you're aware of this but http://catalog.pharo.org/ returns a 503 service is temporarily unavailable. BTW, If you need help for system administration, I'm willing to help and I can dedicate some time to it. Is there someone I can talk to about this ? Thanks, Daniel

DictionaryValueHolder question

Hello, Unlike the CollectionValueHolder, the DictionaryValueHolder only notifies you that something has changed, rather than tell you what item has been added or removed. Does anyone know if this is by design, or just incomplete? If incomplete, what do you think about using the ValueAdded/ValueChanged/ValueRemoved announcements and passing the association in newValue/oldValue? Thank you, Rob

DataFrame inspector issues

Hi Everyone, I've started using DataFrame, it's great to have this functionality easily available, and noticed a few issues with the inspector: 1. The inspector always shows row numbers and not the supplied name. 2. The last column label isn't displayed. If I remember correctly, there has been some discussion about making the column widths draggable in the inspector. I would prefer to have a context menu that is "size to fit". This could be potentially expensive to calculate, so it would be user-initiated. Where should I report issues? https://github.com/PolyMathOrg/DataFrame/issues I have a patch that addresses the first issue, although I'm not completely happy with it, and I'll take a look at the second issue.
