I was wondering: a) I'm assuming PharoJS would be much like Amber but inside the Pharo VM. b) How much of the Amber codebase could be re-used for it? I'm interested on the one hand, mainly due to the demand for Angular code in the browser (jQuery is great in Seaside, but many clients are looking for Angular recently), and my distaste for debugging JavaScript. Amber is ok but lacks the depth of tooling in Pharo, and isn't keeping up with the (constant) breaking changes in node and NPM. (Not that I blame the developers of Amber, it's a problem with the mindset of the developers in the JavaScript ecosystem - the way that Angular2 is almost completely different from Angular is an example of the lack of interest in the existing user base). The problem I see is that PharoJS would have the same issues. As a result it would not only be a fair amount of work to accomplish, it would be far more to maintain. The Pharo ecosystem is based on an entirely opposite mindset to the JS ecosystem - a few very good frameworks and a reasonable number of very good libraries, resulting in highly maintainable code even on projects with only one or two developers. On top of that it would have to deal with the issues with JS itself that make writing decent tools virtually impossible. Glamour: update presenter with new text

Hi, In the method bellow, when the method is recompiled, the presenter's text is still the same (i.e. select another method, then the modified method: the former source code is still presented). Problems verifying the cryptographic signature of a file.

Hi, I'm having problems to verify the cryptographic signature of a file. It seems that the test is running, some times, while the file is being created, and some times when the file writing is finished (which is my purpose). How can I run the cryptographic signature verification only after the writing of the file is finished? I imagine that is something related with jobs and completion, but I don't know where to look for, specifically. Any hints and suggestions are welcomed. Cheers, Offray

I believe there is no such a document. It would be however interesting to investigate it a bit deeper. In general, the problem we talk about when we talk about thread safety is the following: Can we run a workspace in a separate thread than a browser and provide correct results? Can we run two browsers concurrently and change code from both of them? The thread safety problem has several levels I'd say: - the kernel of the language (classes, methods, compilation, and so on) cannot safely be modified while other threads are running. Thus, if we compile a new version of a method in a thread, that could break a separate thread that was using that method. - there are several libraries using global state. We should investigate if they work correctly when using them concurrently. E.g., source code management is not thread safe. This could cause a source code corruption if several methods are modified concurrently. Like that, we should investigate all libraries and see what should be adapted and if there is a need at all. - in a third level, general core libraries (collections, networking, files, etc) are not designed to be thread safe and that is natural. For example, most of the time you don't want that your collection is accessed concurrently. For such cases, some libraries could provide some extensions/wrappers/whatsoever to provide some synchronization mechanism. Otherwise it is the responsibility of the user to synchronize usages with semaphores/mutexes. Iceberg and removing packages

Hi, I'm playing around with Iceberg in Pharo 6, and even when I find the workflow streamlined, but since it doesn't map 1:1 with git workflow from other IDEs or command line, I find myself not knowing how to do certain tasks. One thing that happened is that I published a few packages to one of my repos in Github, then I decided to remove one of the packages from the repo, then I synchronized it but in the repo there is still is the package folder for the package I removed. hard reset class variable state

I want to reset all the class variables in an application to nil. I'm korean user. pharo using mac or linux. I'm always change font setting. because want look korean characters(so simple) but can't using spotter. GLMRubTextFieldMorph font value have hard coding inside.(maybe... look a "SourceSansPro". my pharo using another font now.) spotter result is ok. because GLMScrollPaneBandBrick font value from "Pharo Setting Value". how can change spotter keyword font value? I'm newbie. detail explanation request please. Iceberg: SCP urls are not limited to 'git@'

Hello! Once I finally added remote to my localgit repo, I cannot build my image any more because Iceberg fails to parse the url. After first error I tried ssh://, but it is protected as well. The problem is, git(a)host.site is just the way to say which user to log in via ssh into the host. We use on-premise gogs installed via apt, and it installs 'gogs' user, not 'git' user. As such, we were being able to successfully use 'gogs@our.site:org/towergame.git' type of remote URLs, but Iceberg code has 'git@' hardcoded. How to overcome this? Herby

Creating the smallest server runtime footprint

Hi - buoyed by the success of a minimal image (thanks Pavel), I'm wondering if I can get even smaller. There are lots of .so's in the vm which wouldn't make sense on a server once deployed - sound, maybe libgit ... Is there a list of the essential ones, or tips on what I can strip out of the Linux deployment? I also recall that i can leave out .sources and .changes as well right? Tim Sent from my iPhone

Zinc Crash / semaphores

I have this crash log on a server. https://gist.github.com/philippeback/9527b74c081629c2b05466353c4326b3 It is running on Windows 2012 R2 with a Pharo 5.0 There is a SeasideApp. Is there any known semaphore leak? Because this app is very lightly used and I was suprised to see this. Windows may be the cause but never had such an issue in the environment. TIA Phil
