how to see methods implemented in super classes

A Suggested Promotion

I have a suggestion for future Smalltalk advocates... The advent of Pi Zero last month is an interesting opportunity. This is a very, very cheap Raspberry Pi. Anyone can afford it. I'm thinking of kids, in particular. What if we could get kids to delve into Squeak or Pharo (Squeak is better optimized for Raspberry Pi) via the Pi Zero? A competition could be set up in various countries, such as Canada, Britain, Australia, Japan, etc., where the best student submission for a Smalltalk-based Pi Zero application would win a small scholarship prize (say, $500). A panel of judges in each country would decide the winner. The contest would be much less ambitious than my now-defunct Canadian Smalltalk Competition <https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1520902870/canadian-smalltalk-competit…> (CSC). Less control (no real need to prevent cheating). Easier to raise the prize money. The nice thing is that it would be a multi-national promotion (it's tough getting a national school competition like CSC going in other countries). Of course, because it's less ambitious, we can expect to reach fewer kids. Instead of thousands, probably more like hundreds. I could be totally wrong on this; I could be totally surprised! FUEL not working

Hi guys, Maybe I am doing something terribly stupid but FUEL is not correctly serializing a Set. I uploaded a video so you can check: https://youtu.be/wAQgbkqAXtk As you can see, there is 1 new object in the Set, on serialization the file grows, but on materialization the new object is not present. Hm, I don't know what exactly happens. It seems this behavior started with Pharo 50574. Since that image version, the UUIDGenerator will be reset on startup. Maybe the initialization of the uuidgenerator (or the random seed) will access the filesystem and at this step the file system initialization traps into an infinit loop. What I don't understand is, why this only happens when the image was saved on a windows platform and reopened on a unix platform. Maybe, saving the image (or the shutDownList) does not fully cleanup the platform settings. [ANN] Introspect web content (Soup with some GT extensions)

Hi, I added a few GT inspector extensions to Soup and cleaned up a little bit. Released as a new version 1.8 of Soup - you will find easily in Catalog for Pharo 5 or by opening Spotter and entering "Soup" to load. As the attached screenshots shows you now have a nice way to introspect the structure of a web page as a tree in the inspector or see the attributes of tags/nodes in a table. Thx T.

Iceberg and git workflow

Hi, I am a heavy git user with languages like C, C++, Python, Ruby and even GNU Smalltalk and I hope iceberg will bring the same powerful experience to Pharo. Last Friday I started to add a bigger refactoring for a new feature to my software and didn't finish. Sadly today an issue in the code was found and I would like to fix this before fixing my code. I use this as opportunity to ask if Iceberg has some answers for that. With a non-Pharo project I would do: a.) If current HEAD is same as origin/master $ git stash (stash away my not finished changes) $ vi code.c fix.. $ git commit -a -c "subject long explanation of fix reference to bug" $ git stash apply (and go back to working on my feature) b.) E.g. if I finished n-commits but I am not fully done # store my work $ git commit -a -m "Work In Progress hack.." $ git checkout -b new-feature-branch # go back to master $ git checkout master $ git reset --hard origin/master (to restore) # work on the fix $ vi code.c fix.. $ git commit -a -c "fix..." # go back and continue on my fix $ git checkout new-feature-branch $ git rebase origin/master $ git reset HEAD^1 .. continue to work
