FileSystem Symlink and Environment variables

Hello everyone, I would like to know more about what lacks to FileSystem today ? Especially for symbolic links, I didn't find something to read the real path of the symlink (readlink) and to create a symbolic link, does it exists and I didn't find it? I tried to use isSymlink on my machine (linux one) and it didn't work, we submited an issue but does someone know the problem ? https://pharo.fogbugz.com/f/cases/18279/isSymlink-seems-to-be-broken-on-Lin… Same thing for Environment variables, I would like to know if the implementation lacks of something usefull. Error using metacello

Hi All, Am trying to use metacello to install some pakages onmy pharo from github and smaltalkhub but am having some issue. here is the code am executing on the playground Metacello new configuration: 'OfNeoCSV'; repository:'https://github.com/svenvc/NeoCVS/tree/master/repository'; version: #stable; load. here is the error i obtain. Pharo 5.0 and Garage (DBXTalk)?

Hello Has anyone installed the database drivers per https://guillep.github.io/DBXTalk/garage/installation.html in Pharo 5.0 successfully? It was a snap in Pharo 4.0. But now that I've moved to Pharo 5.0, I'm getting errors when I try to install the database drivers. First there's a warning that there's an unresolved dependency with TimeStamp (I didn't get this warning in Pharo 4.0). That's quickly followed by an error, "IncompatibleLayoutConflict: Class with ByteLayout cannot be extended as slot". If I click "Proceed" I get a series of numerous other errors. Is Garage compatible with Pharo 5.0? Mark

Dear Sven, I started to use the StampClient and intend to use it to produce data but for heartbeat and other parts I need to read from the socket as well. I wonder about the best strategy to deal with it. The naive approach. [ | event sendFrame | event := sharedQueue next. sendFrame := self newSendFrameTo: queueName sendFrame text: event convertToText. stampClient write: sendFrame. ] fork. But now the StampClient enforces a non-zero hearbeat.. so I could write something like this [ | event sendFrame | event := sharedQueue nextWaitFor: stampClient timeout * 3. event isNil ifTrue: [stampClient writeHeartBeat] ifFalse: [self convertAndSendEvent: event]. ] fork. But now I face the issue (but maybe I had it before as well) that the server will itself send an empty frame as its heartbeat function and I need to read it. So I could write... [ event := sharedQueue... "try to read all pending events? How often to repeat it read everything??" stampClient readNextFrame. ... ] fork Or to make it more involved? And create a reader and writer? procConsume := [ [stampClient runWith: [:msg | " do nothing " ]] ifCurtailed: [connectionClosed...handling]. ] fork. procProduce := [ [ | event sendFrame | event := sharedQueue next. sendFrame := self newSendFrameTo: queueName sendFrame text: event convertToText. stampClient write: sendFrame. ] ensure: [procConsume... do what exactly? ] fork. So the last options seems to be the best. But how to deal with with re-connects? How to not have have "procConsume" write the heartbeat data in the middle of the produced event? After all How did you solve that? Is the problem space clear enough? holger
