real world pharo web application set ups

After reading reading "Enterprise Pharo a Web perspective", i am curious to learn more about current real world pharo web application set ups. any case studies or blue prints around? i am interested in application domain, system architecture, infrastructure (HW/OS/DB), performance goals (concurrent users, transactions, ...), system sizing, scalability strategies, .... everything which could important to convince "me" to select pharo as a platform for a saas solution ... [Stupid Benchmarks] C++ vs Pharo

So I was bored and decided to test how fast pharo is compared to C++. so I tested addition C++ version: #include <stdio.h> int main() { double x=0; while(x<1000000000) { x = x+1; } return 1; } time ./test1 2.84 real 2.84 user 0.00 sys Pharo version: time ./pharo Ephestos.image eval "|x| x := 0. 1 to: 1000000000 do:[:each| x := x +1]" 1 2.09 real 1.94 user 0.08 sys Pharo is +50% faster than C++ ... o_O ... that's suprising, I assume here Pharo VM probably does some kind of optimisation.

How to edit an element with Teapot

Hi This is probably a stupid question but I dare to ask it. I have a tiny teapot application (based on the library example) and I would like to let the use add an item or edit an item. I do want to force the user to do it via the request path with a post or that way ZnClient new url: 'http://localhost:8080/books/1'; formAt: 'author' put: 'SquareBracketAssociates'; formAt: 'title' put: 'Pharo For The Enterprise'; put I know how to do it in Seaside but I feel spoiled because I do not know how to do it in plain html to serve it with Teapot. I noticed that in none of our chapters (Teapot, ZnApplication chapter, tinyblog-teapot, tinyblog-seaside) shows how to do it. -- Using Opera's mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/

PUnQLite/Voyage-UnQLite Unicode Problem

All, I'm currently dabbling with Voyage-UnQLite. However I noticed that Unicode strings do not seem to be supported. Just try the following "testcase": repo := VOUnQLiteRepository on: (FileLocator temp / 'db'). s := (Character codePoint: 512) asString -> nil. repo save: s. My initial reaction was to make sure that strings are always converted to/from UTF-8 when using PUnQLite. However I'm not sure if this is something that needs to be addressed on the PUnQLite or Voyage-UnQLite level. CU, Udo
