Using GTSpotter how do I find an implementor of #accept ?

when I hit shift+enter and type 'accept' I get things that are not #accept, e.g. #accept: and AbstractAcceptor. If I add a space after accept it doesn't help. What do I not understand? Thanks Paul

Customised auto-completion to give priority to specific packages

As a next step for my project Ephestos , I want to mess with auto-completion. My goal is for auto completion to give priority to the Ephestos packages. This way the Ephestos users will get recommended first auto completion of Ephestos classes and methods, I will then add a line to separate those from the rest of Pharo recommendations. I could customise this further to accomodate for any package inside pharo thus making the autocompletion prioritise your packages and classes/methods. Is there any interest for something like that ? If there is then I could make it into a separate Pharo project and make it easy to install via Package Browser (Pharo 5 configuration browser) . If there is no interest then I can keep it as part of my project and not do the extra work for separating the code. I also welcome any advice and recommendation on how to achieve this by people who already hacked auto completion. I already study the NECompletion package so I have a general idea but so far have not figure out how to priorotise recommendations.

World lastKeystroke and openInWorld: aPasteUpMorph

Hi, I'm using pharo to teach smalltalk as first 'real' programming language at school. With older versions of pharo I was glad that my pupils could track keystrokes so easily by evaluating World lastKeystroke. With Pharo3.0/4.0 this only returns '<down>' independently of any keys I'm typing. f := PasteUpMorph new openInWorld. f takeKeyBoardFocus. f lastKeystroke. Is returning the empty string. Hence, my question: Is lastKeystroke broken, or how is it meant to be used now? Second problem: In older versions of pharo this would work: f := PasteUpMorph new openInWorld. b := EllipseMorph new. b openInWorld: f. But with Pharo 3.0/4.0 the last line raises an error: MessageNotUnderstood: PasteUpMorph>>startSteppingSubmorphsOf With f := WorldMorph new openInWorld. b := EllipseMorph new. b openInWorld: f. pharo freezes. So: How is openInWorld: meant to be used? Markus

Halo Menu On Spec Tree Node

Hi All, I had an issue - when I opened a Halo on a Spec tree node in the UI and select the menu Icon, I got a DNU message. However if I selected a normal Morph, the menu Icon worked fine. I'm using Pharo 4.0 released version. Fixed this by changing TreeModel>>iconFor to: iconFor: aNode ^ iconBlock value cull: aNode content*s* cull: aNode Craig

[ANN] Multiple Desktop support for Pharo 5

Julien Delplanque provided this week a goodie to switch between "desktops" - but his initial solution was more or less hiding windows and not really switching between real Pharo worlds/desktops. I gave him some tips what could be done on the pharo-user list. Havent heard from him afterwards. Now I was able to spend a few hours on this topic myself and implemented a full multiple desktop solution myself. This works in Pharo 5 only (currently) and requires latest VM (at least on Windows) from files.pharo.org to get the keyboard shortcuts right. To try: Gofer new smalltalkhubUser: 'TorstenBergmann' project: 'DesktopManager'; configuration; loadDevelopment. The goodie has some nice features like keyboard navigation, world menu integration and even a custom spotter with preview of the desktops. Quick start: =========== - evaluate the above expression in a Pharo 5 image - check the world menu "Desktop" - you can press CTRL + D and then CTRL + A (= Desktop Add) to add a new desktop - you can press CTRL + D and then CTRL + D (= Desktop Desktop) to open the overview - you can press CTRL + D and then CTRL + P (= Desktop Previous) to navigate to the previous desktop - you can press CTRL + D and then CTRL + N (= Desktop Next) to navigate to the next desktop The code is hopefully a good example on how to build a custom spotter, shortcuts, inspector extensions, ... How practical it is to do set-based comparison in TestAsserter>>assertCollection:hasSameElements: ? For example #(1 1 2) has same elements as #(1 2) which may make sense for sets, but not for bags. The main reason I was using it is that in tests the expected collection may be created by hand, which means it is very often an array #(...), { ... }, while models very often return OrderedCollections (at least in my case). So my question is --- how to compare collections irrespective of type, and possibly of order? A) always convert the actual collection toanArray B) change difference: behavior for non-sets (ton of work with catastrophic consequences) C) extend TAssertable with new methods like #assertElementsOf: actualCollection equals: expectedCollection #assertUnorderedElementsOf: actualCollection equals: expectedCollection C.a) directly in Pharo/SUnit C.b) in independend SUnit-Extensions repository/project C.c) just in my project D) stop discussing non-problems Thanks, Peter

(Local Time Lille). It will be at the Inria Lille, Building B, third floor (RMoD offices). Remotely, you can join us on the official IRC channel #pharo on irc.freenode.net server. During the sprint, we will try to synchronize local and remote Pharo sprinters. As the building is not open to the public, please contact us before if you plan to come.

Some news from the growing pharo teacher front

Hi guys I want to let you know that there will be a new pharo lecture in YaoundÃ©. I presented Pharo during a seminar and the previous minister of education was there and asked us to do a lecture. In June we did it with Damien C. by skype. And now there is an official lecture at YaoundÃ© given by Prof. Metalagia. This is an excellent news. I will give some lectures in december there. In Togo my first visit was quite successful: 120 participants to the conferences I gave (it was still vacation time there). There were 60 students following lectures from 8h to 17h during 4 days... Yes I'm exhausted ;) A new Pharo lecture will start in north Togo. I will go back in December. One of the idea is to help students to get good in Pharo and pharo web stack and build web apps and other. I hope that we can have within 2/3 year There is a competition AppTogo. People are learning C# and others. I hope that some students will compete with Pharo so I will be looking for potential mentors to help them. Giving them advices, pointing them to the right solution/framework and may be a bit of pair rogramming if skype works. I distributed the Pharo Starter Kit (we will announce it officially now that I have 10 gb space on my server) People love the Youtube videos folder I'm collecting. Yes internet is a pain there. Chloupis I put your great youtube tutorial! Thanks for it. some students watched it. Stef
