[ANN] Spec documentation in PFTE book finished

Hi all, I am happy to announce that Ben and I finished the documentation of Spec for the Pharo For The Enterprise book. This documentation is up-to-date with the latest version of Spec, and is focused towards people wanting to use it and even extend it (in contrast to the academic papers which are â¦ academic ;-) ). I hope that this text will help all the people that are building UIs in Pharo, and it will clear up any doubts that they may have. The chapter is available in source form from the GitHub project of the PFTE book: https://github.com/SquareBracketAssociates/PharoForTheEnterprise-english The easiest way to read the chapter is from the continuous integration server, which produces a html file of the chapter here: https://ci.inria.fr/pharo-contribution/job/PharoForTheEnterprise/lastSucces… (The same server also produces pdf and markdown files, but there are some strange artifacts there, currently. I guess this will be cleared up in the future) We tried our best to make it understandable and complete, but if you have any doubts or comments please do not hesitate to let us know !! Accessing DLLs in Smalltalk/V

I found an old Smalltalk/V imagine from 2000 and tracked down how I was able add calls to Windows DLLs and to add my own. It was in the class DynamicLinkLibrary and its subclasses, e. g., a call to the GDIDLL to draw a Bezier spline (which I believe I added) was: bezierTo: hDC lpPoints: anLPPOINT count: anInt <api: PolyBezierTo ulong struct ulong boolean> ^self invalidArgument I added by own DLL to do matrix transformations that was written in ASSEMBLER to optimized the floating point processor pipelining (a start operation every cycle while it took 3 cycles to complete) and it performed about 15% better. I have not found anything similar in Pharo, but it must if external libraries are used. NativeBoost seems to come close, but I cannot find any documentation. Can someone point me to some documentation, code, anything? It is greatly appreciated. bw

Athens and ellipse drawing

Hi Igor, hi all! I am not sure how to properly draw ellipse. Curl markup with Pillar

re: Curl markup, as in web markup using declarative style in Curl PL from MIT, not cURL ( see www.curlap.com) My Japanese web pages are now generated using nunjucks + node.js but in the hope of using pharo 3 + Seaside on small virtual server, I thought I would see what it takes to add Curl markup to the Pilar repertoire. But the Pharo 3 RC image is giving a walkback over the configuration for Pillar, so I may not get to this this morning. mrkup, mrkdwn PS did any one see the role of an MIT OCaml / emacs guy in the Android visual app gen project from MIT ? PPS Curl Android/iOS app gen project is called "caede" as in "maple" (KAEDE)

NeoJSON mapping of nil properties

Hi all... and Sven ;-) I'm mapping my objects with NeoJSONWriter, and I found it is not writing the properties whose values are null. NeoJSONPropertyMapping>>#writeObject: anObject on: jsonMapWriter | value | value := getter value: anObject. value ifNotNil: [ jsonMapWriter writeKey: propertyName value: value as: valueSchema ] It is a good default (saves space, and cpu cycles). But in my case the consumer of the JSON objects expect the objects to have all the attributes previously defined. Is there a way I can configure the mapper or the mapping to write null when the value is nil? Thank you! Esteban A. Maringolo

Bug in Nautilus... (Pharo 3)

If I try to "move to another package" a class I always get an exception. Try moving any class present in the standard Pharo 3 to AST-Core, for example... Anyway, thanks for the great work you are doing. Regards JosÃ©

Wouldn't it be good if STON could save ScaledDecimals as 12345.678s?. That way, we could read them back again as ScaledDecimal, instead of Float. I have tried and it seems quite useful. Regards
