I wonder if something like embedding Smalltalk in other texts is somwhere to be foudn for Pharo e.g "This is some letter you (<% self name %>) can sign here to <% self printwhateverShouldBePrintedHere %>" So embedding Smalltallk into documents with add "dynamic" content I'm not looking in something like the HTMl stuff generated from Smalltalk but a text fiel in which there are areas in which one can execute and/or print information from Smalltalk.. OSProcess command: 'something' does not work on windows

(continuation of http://forum.world.st/command-line-command-from-pharo-image-td4727022.html) OSProcess command: 'something' works fine on mac but does not work on windows. If I debug in it I arrive at a primitive call in WindowsOSProcessAccessor>>primCommand: The comment is saying something like "This primitive has been replaced by #primCommand:stdIn:stdOut:stdErr:, and will be removed in future versions of OSProcess." Question: How to call a command line command from windows (AND mac)? Do I have to write two different codes for the 2 os systems? Json case: Mapping objects to dictionaries

What would be the best software to map my objects to dictionaries? There are a lot of packages in pharo that deal with JSON somehow. But it seems none does mapping from objects to dictionaries and is standalone. Weâve got - NeoJSON package . Maps objects to strings directly for performance reason - JSON package. Maps string to JsonObject (subclassed from dictionary) - Voyage magritte based mapper: Closest to what I find useful but buried inside of Voyage. And Iâm not sure it would be easy to factor out this module as a standalone mapper. - Seaside javascriptâ¦ : I forgot what it really does. I often shy away looking at it because I donât want to suck in all the dependencies. Iâm asking because for me this is an important asset. If we talk about JSON there are three things: Objects, JSON structure (being dictionaries and other collections in pharo) and JSON strings. Writing to another server or to a file producing JSON strings seems to be enough. But using it for another system like MongoDB or ElasticSearch this does not work. Here the common interface seems to be dictionaries. With ElasticSearch mapping dictionaries to JSON and MongoDB mapping dictionaries to BSON. So a good descriptive way to map objects to dictionaries would be a good thing to have. Any thoughts? Norbert

openFullscreen a WindowModel

Hi Guys! One simple question: how can i open fullscreen a WindowModel? As you know, the StandardWindow has got the message "openFullscreen", but it obviously doesn't work for the WindowModel.Any suggestion? Ciao!Paolo

Alive and Kicking This presentation will discuss some successes stories around Smalltalk such AMD 64 bits, OOCL (http://www.oocl.com/) MediaGenix (www.mediagenix.tv) LAMRC (http://www.lamrc.com) netstyle.ch or yesplan.be. Then I will talk about Pharo and the recent advances in Pharo 20 and 30 alpha. More importantly I will give an overview of all the partners and shows that Pharo is composed of a really strong community of academic partners, research groups and companies. In addition I will stress that Pharo is YOUR open-source platform and that if you start to consider it as it then suddenly you realise that you want to improve it and that you can get an impact and influence Pharo's future and your future. I will finish by an key example showing the essence of object-oriented programming and prove to the audience that this is because of such example that Pharo is one of the best system to understand deeply object-oriented programming from its roots. Bio: Stephane leads the RMoD (http://rmod.lille.inria.fr) team. He is expert in two domains: object-oriented language design and reengineering. He worked on traits, composable groups of methods, and this work got some impact. Traits have been introduced in AmbiantTalk, and Squeak/Pharo, Perl, PHP and under a variant into Scala, Fortress of SUN Microsystems. He is one of the developer of Pharo http://www.pharo.org/ a new dynamic language used in industry and academia. He is also expert on software quality, program understanding, program visualizations, reengineering and metamodeling. A related issue is the enforcing of protocol. Currently, the RPackage implementation doesnât allow other class-side definitions of #packages. There was no test for that, so all images with Grease loaded (all Moose & Seaside based images) fail silently. In Slice 12324 I added a test checking that no class below Object redefines the method. Building Pharo using Interpreter Class

My freind Dimitri was not able to post his message. I am working with him on this. _______________________________________________________________________________ Hello, as part of a Seminar in the University im trying to build the PharoVM. According to the README file here ([1]) I was able to generate and to build the VM successfully. Now I would like to build the VM without Cog or Stack-to-Register optimizations... The problem here is, that I could not find any config class (which is a subclass of CPlatformConfig), that provides the right configurations and allows to build the VM without errors. I have tried to modify PharoUnixConfig(because it was the default config class), but unfortunately the build failes when the compiler tries to compile gcc3x-interp.c. Could somebody help me with this problem? How should I configure my own Config class? Basically our Group tries to implement an object table in Pharo and we want to use (and modify) the basic Interpreter class.
