----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Pharo Trick: #0004] - Run code using a key command to speedup development ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Works in: Pharo3.0 Latest update: #30637 but should work in other 2.0/3.0 versions ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have to run some code very often you typically have to evaluate it from a workspace over and over again. But to speed up you can assign a global keymapping which allows to run it with a simple keyboard shortcut: World on: $a shift command do: [ Object browse ]. Evaluate this once in a workspace. After that anytime you press SHIFT, the command button (on Windows this is ALT) and A together the block gets evaluated and your code runs easily. Background: =========== In Pharo there is a global morph called "World" representing the desktop. One can assign a key combination to any morph including this world. Shrinking Pharo 3 image

Hi, I'm trying to unload some of the packages from Pharo 3 to come up with a reduced Pharo Image. I don't know if someone has already succeeded at getting a Pharo kernel image. Just the basic and really needed classes and packages. And then have the possibility to reload Athens, Zinc, Zodiac, ASM, etc, as needed. Simply unloading the packages from Monticello does not work, as it seems some of the packages are correlated, and I don't really know packages' dependencies. Any help would be much appreciated. InstallGemTools does not load

Metacello config with local file based repository

I'm defining my first Metacello config (ConfigurationOf...) but I wonder how should I declare a local file based repository. Loading Cog fails under Windows

When I try to install Cog (GuillermoPolito.127) from the Configuration Browser in a clean Pharo 2.0 (Windows 7 x64), fails with the following message: "The symbolic version #stable is not defined in ConfigurationOfCog for the current platform." I download the image + vm with the following command: $ wget -O- get.pharo.org/20+vm | bash Any workaround? HernÃ¡n

Programmatic Scoped Browsing

I tried: SystemNavigation new environment: RPackage allInstances third asEnvironment; browseAllSelect: aBlock but it still searched the whole image. I looked for examples in the image of manually building an environment/SystemDictionary, but didn't find anything helpful. HTH Hi Sabine, Sean, PLEASE NO WinExec, this is long deprecated and only for 16bit compatibility see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms687393(v=vs.85).a… As you see on MSDN CreateProcess() API should be used. If you are on Pharo 3.0 look at my "OS-Windows" project loadable from the config browser. You will find the class WinProcess with methods like #createProcess: (nonblocking) and #createAndWaitForProcess: (blocking) there. It already uses CreateProcess API. With the package you can for instance run the command processor: WinProcess createAndWaitForProcess: 'cmd.exe' You also have access to the environment like WinEnvironment getEnvironmentVariable: 'PATH'.
