Hello Cami : Thank you for your suggestion. I've already attempted the approach suggested at the URL quoted. The "getInstaller" script doesn't work for me. So, of course, the original script still doesn't work. However, this time I tried using Gofer to reinstall Metacello. (I couldn't find any reference to it in my image). That worked. Gofer new squeaksource: 'MetacelloRepository'; package: 'ConfigurationOfMetacello'; load. (Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfMetacello) perform: #loadLatestVersion. So I tried this : Gofer new squeaksource: 'MetacelloRepository'; package: 'ConfigurationOfDesigner'; load. (Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfDesigner) perform: #loadLatestVersion. Error : ConfigurationOfDesigner class object > doesnotunderstand #loadLatestVersion What now? I have Pharo 1.4. Should I try this with 2.0? how to find 'knownName'?

Hallo, Trying to implement the Laser-Game to Pharo I am at the moment stuck at [code]findLaserPathCounter ^ self allMorphs detect: [:t1 | t1 knownName = 'laserPath'] ifNone: [] [/code] It works in Squeak (1.4) My question is: How do I find the definition of knownName in Squeak ( to fileout and transfer to Pharo)??? It seems to be a method for Morphs but I think I need to know how to question Smalltalk to find a definition of a method with the help of a 'Systembrowser' ? Greets Peter

Problems with a Morph that accepts File Dropping in Pharo 1.3+

Hi, i still have problems with a Morph that should accept files from the OS dragged and dropped onto it. I found out it works in Pharo 1.2 and in Squeak 4.3 but not in Pharo 1.3 and 1.4. Try this class: Morph subclass: #DropZone instanceVariableNames: '' classVariableNames: '' poolDictionaries: '' category: 'DragAndDrop'! !DropZone methodsFor: 'as yet unclassified' stamp: 'HeleneBilbo 9/21/2012 20:53'! dropFiles: evt self color: Color blue.! ! !DropZone methodsFor: 'as yet unclassified' stamp: 'HeleneBilbo 9/21/2012 20:41'! initialize super initialize. color := Color red. bounds := 0 @ 0 extent: 200 @ 200! ! !DropZone methodsFor: 'as yet unclassified' stamp: 'HeleneBilbo 9/21/2012 20:53'! wantsDropFiles: anEvent ^ true! ! In Pharo 1.3 and 1.4 the DropZone Morph does only in some rare cases catch the dropped file, in most cases it's the PastUpMorph behind, that get's to handle the dropped file. In Pharo 1.2 and in Squeak (4.3) it works as it should, i.e. the DropZone always get's to handle the file dropped onto it. Perhaps someone has an idea what changed between 1.2 and 1.3 that could cause this behavior? Collections : abstract class stepping around bad request in code subclass should implement ?

yes, 2.0 has that odd duplicate code (see my prev misplaced msg below ...) A lot of time spent in expression-based languages leaves me uncomfortable that ^self is used for this NOP condition which looks like an unmessaged/unsignalled failure that should never arise. I ask just me: why is this not Error material ? Should there not be a flag to test against as to whether this is non-recoverable non-completion of task ? The opponents of nil checks spend too little time in happily back-tracking Icon dialects ? ( yes ... there is now expression-based ObjectIcon - and it is Unicode ) Of course the real question is how this code gets to stay there at all even in 2.0 - or shoudl I be asking why a Trait was not the cure here ? The really good news: it was not a copy-n-paste ! But seriously ... when this failure occurs, what flags that it is harmless ? Compare messaging model of RTOS QNX where the cost of this advice is low. Or is this all safely covered by unit testing ? XDisplayControlPlugin location?

Hi- Where can I find the latest XDisplayControlPlugin? Is this it: http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/3350 ? I was trying to run UnixProcess saveImageInBackgroundNicely in Pharo-1.4 using both Eliots and the inria vm's but can't because I don't have the aforementioned plugin. Thanks in advance Paul

Zinc crashes an image.

Hi - I'm pretty sure I'm having the same problem Phillipe had/described in this message: http://forum.world.st/Zinc-crashing-image-at-start-up-td3785797.html At least the PharoDebug.log is the same. It happens on both the most recent Cog and interpreter VM. Is there a way to recover from this? I could follow Sean's instructions from this thread if necessary: http://forum.world.st/Fwd-Oops-I-put-a-halt-in-a-startup-method-td3800729.h… Or is there a way to extract changes from a changes file for one image into another image? I'd rather fix the broken image but if its not possible I'd then just try to load those changes I don't have. Thanks for any guidance you can provide. Paul

Get the point of Intersection for Morphs

I have a new class for Circle Morph which has a step method that increases the diameter. step self extent: self extent +1. (self extent )>(400@400) ifTrue: [self stopStepping] b:=CircleAnimeMorph new // new class for Circle Morph b openInWorld b startStepping b1:CircleAnimeMorph new b1 openInWorld b1 startStepping. KaiProfiler + Pharo 1.4 cpu usage/Transcript

Hi - If the transcript is open and I hover over the KaiProfiler window the Transcript is filled with mouseover information and my CPU goes to ~85%. If the transcript is closed and I hover over a my CPU runs a 2-3x what an idle Pharo-1.4 shows on my system.
