In the Configuration Browser there is a configuration to load it (this is the browser form 1.3 full) 2) Natilus. This is the browser we will ship by default in the future. You can load it yourself (There is a config in the Configuration browser). 2.0 will come with Nautilus by default. Pharo conf. Social Event

Hi, For the conference, the lunches and coffee breaks are covered by INRIA and EMD. Now I would like to organize the social event for the thursday evening. Now our team cannot cover it because our budget is tight but I can have a really good restaurant (I know personally the cook). We could have a really good diner for around 30-35 Euros (with a cook cooking everything live in the back). Now I need to know who would like to join. You can come with your partners. So please let me know because like that I can book the restaurant. Stef

Drag and drop events in Pharo

Hi, I've made a small experiment, dragging a file to Pharo's window, which caused to instantiate a FileList object (shown as a pop-up window) with instance variable reference containing a FileReference object corresponding to the file chosen. (Does this make sense?) The question is, how can I customize this to get this FileReference instance and assign it to some arbitrary class instance variable? In other words, how does the dnd event work in this case? Thanks Christian

Script Manager

Hi All, InÂ PharoÂ 1.3, under the tools menu, there was menu item 'Script Manager'. Script Manager was a nice little tool that allowed you to organize and keep a series of workspaces. I don't see this in 1.4. Is it still there someplace or is it gone? Thanks, Pharo Rocks, Scott McLaughlin

[ANN] ImageWriter, the SystemTracer's son

First public push of the first step of the hazelnut GSoC project :) *In a nutshell* For those who didn't know SystemTracer (the father): It is a tool that traces a graph of objects and writes an image from it. ImageWriter is a refactored, renamed and repackaged version of SystemTracer2 with the following changes: - The image format can be provided as a parameter. - You have to provide an SmalltalkImage object as root to write the image (so in the future we can write bootstrap with this). - The object format was reified in objects. So the code is easier to understand + change, and people can learn how are our objects in memory easily :D. Right now, only 32 bit image format is supported. *Structure* - ImageWriter-Core has the image formats and the image writer in itself - ImageWriter-ObjectFormats contains objects that represent the memory layout of the objects and it's headers. - ImageWriter-Tests has some tests. *Tests done* - Only tested in Pharo-1.4 - There are specific tests written for the size and headers of the objects - Also, I've written a Pharo-1.4 image and then run the tests in the copied image. Only one failure compared to the original :) *Known Bugs :)* - WeakRegistryTest>>#testFinalizationWithOnFork is failing, and when I run it manually it works :/. In the image I use to write, it does not happen, only in the clone. - When opening the new image, the window is too small. It is not respecting the original image size. Cairo

Congrats on the release of Pharo 1.4!! Very exciting. Also, Nautilus looks nice -- in my first few minutes of using it. - One of my goals is to generate PDF reports. From Pharo, it appears that Pango/Cairo may give me a solution. And then I saw Athens, and thought it might be helpful. I used the configuration tool to load Athens, but then realized that I need to load Cairo first -- I thought maybe it would be picked up as a dependency... i am not very familiar with these configurations yet, and it appears that it did not install it. As I look around, I am having troubles finding a description of the optimal loading process for Pango & Cairo, for Pharo. My searches keep giving me very old/sub-optimal references on the forums. Nothing that works when i "do it" -- so I am obviously missing something. *Can someone please direct me to web pages describing the optimal loading technique for Pango & Cairo, or provide the Gofer lines here?
