Hi pharoers Sometimes I think that we are crazy to build this system but this is really important to have dreams and make them becoming true. :) I really like what we are doing: we are building a strong community and a really great system. Of course it could be better but it is going in the right direction at full speed. Now remember that Pharo is not ours but YOURS and you can get an impact! Pharo is not read-only. This year we got some nice and important changes. I think that in 2014 we will have some important improvements. We will have to finish what we started and build a solid ground for the next iteration. I really like our community because it pushes me forward and because my dreams are becoming reality :) I wish you a lot of success and health. Stef

towards moose in the pharo ide (gtinspector / gtdebugger)

Hi, Some of you asked how the GTInspector and GTDebugger are different from the existing infrastructure. They are quite different from the norm in that: they are tiny, and they are highly extensible. Thanks for the feedback everyone! A few enhancements: - Close on escape - Select next on down arrow when open - Show all on down arrow when closed - Select previous on up arrow - Accept on enter - requires an override in PluggableTextFieldMorph, but I think the change can be integrated in Core - For entry completion (unlike our current behavior): - Keyboard focus remains with the text field, so: - you can continue to type - the selected item stays selected as long as it remains visible, even if it moves around in the list (maybe doesn't matter for completion...) I'm off to celebrate... See you in the new year!

Pharo on Android - is it available?

I would like to experiment with Pharo on Android - I have just acquired an Android tablet, and I do not want to learn another development language to produce my own simple apps. After a Google search, I have found http://code.google.com/p/squeakvm-tablet/, which says it is available, at least as a beta. The site says that downloads from there are deprecated, and gives a link to https://ci.lille.inria.fr/pharo/job/PharoDroid/ for the download. This link seems to be dead, however. Is there any source of a download of Pharo for Android (on an ARM-designed processor)? And does it make sense to try to develop apps using Pharo (I know about Dr Geo, so I suppose the answer is yes)? When trying to load Designer in Pharo 3.0 I find uncompilable code in Animations: 'updateCurrentValue: aValue self target ifNil: [^ self]. self target perform: (self property, #:) asSymbol with: aValue.'

Obviously, it would be much better to retain all the dynamism of a true Smalltalk environment even when the app has been deployed, but it it gave simple hosting, and scaling, it might be a reasonable trade off. Image starts and closes automatically

Help please! I closed my image with "Save & Quit" and now everytime I try to open it it opens the window but closes immediately. No error or anything else. It is... the image opens, I can see a couple of workspaces. But then quits. I'm using: /pharo-ui myapp.image I also tried to start it using my startup script, and the same thing happens. Any idea? Because there is a missing method (#currentClassAndMethod) and author didn't replied.
