3D with Pharo and OpenGL ?

Hy, I'm working at Thales for a year internship and I would like to do some OpenGL demos in smalltalk. I'm searching a demo which shows the capacity to implement 3D drawing with Pharo. Does a demo already available on Pharo 3.0 ? I aim to code my own demo and for example begin with a 3D drawing of the earth (earth texture and arcball camera). Thanks. Mac keyboard bindings

A number of text editing keys don't work like I expect. For example, Home and End don't do anything and Command-left/right don't behave as they do elsewhere in the system. How can I fix these mappings/behaviors? storeOn:/readFrom: symmetrical?

Hi. A basic question I hope someone can answer. This works: â cut here --- | stream aInt | stream := (String new:20) writeStream. aInt := 23. (aInt storeOn:stream) = (aInt class readFrom:(stream contents)) â cut here --- This doesnât (generates an error): â cut here --- | stream aTime | stream := (String new:20) writeStream. aTime := Time now. (aTime storeOn:stream) = (aTime class readFrom:(stream contents)) â cut here --- To the question then. Assuming the second case isnât wrong in some fashion I donât understand, is it the case that storeOn:/readFrom: is supposed to be symmetrical for all classes? I ask it that way because there are a couple of Kernel classes where Iâve seen this to not be the case. TIA, âRick

Block Recursion

I read that Blocks in Squeak and Pharo, since it was derived from Squeak did not implement true block closures and would not support block recursion. On one count the statement was correct, but not on the other. I tried: | a f | a := 0. f := [ Transcript show: a. (a < 5)ifTrue:[a := a + 1. f value ] ]. f value. a inspect. A Workspace DoIt did not work in Squeak, it failed complaning that the block was being evaluated. In Pharo, it works but with the annoying modal dialog asking to run since f was not assigned a value. If blocks are to be used recursively, a better way must be found to flag but not stop execution. This example points out that porting from Squeak to Pharo is fine, but the reverse might be questionable. bw

Calling an arbitrary method

How does one use MultiColumnListModel?

Hi, IÂ´ve been spending some time trying to figure out what to pass, and I canÂ´t figure out what to pass to #items:. IÂ´ve tried to pass strings, arrays of strings, arrays of arrays of strings, and the most IÂ´ve got so far is Character(Object)>>doesNotUnderstand: #widthToDisplayInList: :S Some help or some pointers would be greatly appreciated! Versionner: Specifying un-configured packages as dependencies

Hi all, Iâm using Versionner to make a ConfigurationOf and things are working quite well (thanks for that!) until I want to add the Roassal2Spec package as a dependency. The dialog box only shows packages with a configuration, and Roassal2Spec does not have one. Itâs just one package. How can I add this guy to my configuration? Class definition changes in change log

Hi All, Trying to recover lost changes from another (broken) image I noticed that only method definition and do-it are saved. I'm in a middle of a refactoring where I changed hierarchies, renamed classes and inst vars. When trying to recover the changes, class name changes are not there, so most of the method changes are not applicable. I don't know if I am missing something important regarding how to recover changes. I just dragged the old changes file onto my new image and then browse the changes (where I can only see methods and do-its) As a work around I manually did all the class definition changes (superclass, class name, inst var names), and re run all the changes from the "Recent Changes" window. As a result I recovered most of the work of the last night :) (but I lost some time trying to figure out the problem) Is it OK that my changes file has not class definition changes? Am I missing sth? This is the expected behavior when recovering the changes from another image? thanks best regards arturo

Hi All, you can now download some code for downloading tweets using REST and Streaming Twitter APIs. It is far from complete but do the job we need for now. Besides tweets downloading you can also: - get users information. - retrieve the profile picture of users. - ask for the relationship of the two users Please find attached some info regarding dependencies (no metacello config for now), and manual login procedure for the first time you connect to twitter. We will work on tests, completion and more practical documentation soon. At the same time, when the visualization part of our Twitter thing is ready, we will communicate it. MNU PREyeInspector>>elements for PRDocument with EyeTreeInspector

I was looking at PRAnnotatedParagraphTest>>testParseBasic and Inspected the result of the following... | wiki text tree | wiki := '@@foo bar zork'. text := 'bar zork'. tree := PRDocument new add: (PRAnnotatedParagraph new annotation: 'foo'; add: (PRText content: 'bar zork'); yourself); yourself. The Inspector comes up okay using PREyeItemInspector to show PRDocument. However when I change to EyeTreeInspector I get the error "MNU: PREyeItemInspector>>elements" I tried digging into this but its beyond my current understanding. In particular, PREyeInspector seems to have two potential sources of elements: * ivar /tree/ holding a TreeModel that might return roots and/or children * ivar /object/ holding a NewValueHolder holding a PRDocument that might return its children. Is there somewhere I should log a case for Pillar? cheers -ben
