Maximum number of rules in PetitParser?

I have a grammar with about 600 rules. With some work Iâve come up with a useful subset of 400 rules. Unfortunately this is still more than the 255 number of instance variables that Pharo allows. Is there a way to have PetitParser use something other than instance variables to cache the rules? Especially something that works with PPBrowser? James

Glamour detecting changes?

I have a pretty simple class and I'm using a GLMFinder to browse its contents. If I make changes to the instance I'm browsing, it doesn't look like Glamour detects the changes and refreshes. I'm using self changed: #property in the setter. If I navigate backwards and unselect, and re-browse into it, it sees the changes. What should I do? Thanks again! â Daniel Lyons

Building agents in Pharo

I am interested in building a system that uses co-operating agents to parse events. Is Pharo a suitable system for this? I ask because given that it is single threaded, I wondered whether running multiple agents would present any sort of problem. Has anyone got experience of building something like this? And, if so, what did you use for your basic queue? Is there a suitable FIFO style queue within Pharo? Cheers Andy

Dear fellow pharoers, I am please to announce release 14.12[1] of Dr. Geo is ready for download[2]. Main changes appeared in the script system: - script becomes first class citizen, understand defined as a Smalltalk class; script calculus/side effect is defined in the #compute method, - when building a script, the user first dictates the expected argument types, - when using a script, only objects matching these argument types are selectable, - the argument sent to a script instance are of type Costume, those from a script you can modify the visual property of the arguments (i.e. objects in the sketch), - a script menu is now present to quickly use a script (as for macro-construction) - the script system is incompatible with the previous one, sketch using script need to be rewritten. Spec: "pluggable" widgets / label-input layout?

Supposing I have a domain model, Activity, which looks like this: Object subclass: #Activity instanceVariableNames: 'title cost' classVariableNames: '' category: 'PERT' Then I have the expected accessors for title and cost. I make a Polymorph dialog for editing one of these things like so: PolymorphEditActivity>>edit: anActivity | builder content dialog | activity := anActivity. builder := Smalltalk ui theme builder. content := builder newLabelGroup: { 'Title' -> (builder newTextEntryFor: self activity getText: #title setText: #title: help: 'The title of the activity'). 'Cost' -> (builder newTextEntryFor: self activity getText: #cost setText: #cost: help: 'The cost of the activity') }. dialog := builder newPluggableDialogWindow: 'Edit activity' for: content. ^ builder openModal: dialog. *First question*: how do I return a value from the dialog? I can see how to get the model value out: I do something like this: activityDialog := SpecEditActivity new openDialogWithSpec; yourself. activityDialog model activity I have two questions about the Spec side of the house: 1. The title/costWidget whenTextChanged: stuff. With Polymorph, I can just say, here's an object, here's the getter/setter, deal with it. Does Spec have anything like this, or do you have to do this manual data shuffling? Is there an example I can learn from? 2. This layout is a bit on the ugly side. I looked at the examples and saw usage of the expert layout with asking how tall a line is. Is that the best that can be done, or is there something more like Polymorph's label layout that can be used instead? Thanks for your time and patience! â Daniel Lyons

First select the engine: HTML2PDFConverter useExecutable. or HTML2PDFConverter useLibrary. and then convert: HTML2PDFConverter convert: 'http://www.pharo.org' toFile: 'pharo.pdf' to get a printable version of the Pharo homepage. Sounds like a great idea for a project. Off the top of my head, I would be interested in support for "slices" meaning taking being able to treat a subset of a larger OrderedCollection as its own OrderedCollection rather than using copyFrom:to: to create a duplicate object to work with. Question about SUnit

Greetings. I have to do a bunch of tests, where the initial set up is quite costly (launching ROS system and a bunch of nodes). Therefore, I don't want to set it up each time before a test (like with the standard setUp function). How can I make it so that the setUp function is called only once overall before ALL tests? (And aditionally, so that the tearDown function is called only once after all tests have run?) Thank you all in advance, best,
