Hi there! I hope this not get too off topic here but I consider Amber and Pharo to be kind of best friends and we need more data/input for this to improve the development experience. Did you tried or use Amber <http://amber-lang.net/>? We want to have some insight and understand better this two basic things about how Amber users use it to code. It is implemented in plain Socket with an ad hoc text protocol. a *lot* should be improved, done or added: - write tests (it is always a pain to write for client/server apps so here I skip them :-() - ensure that everything is correctly destroyed/cleaned (processes, sockets, streams, ...). it seems but... needs testing - refactor to use SocketStream? - better modularization of commands - another implementation using Zinc but it would imply using HTTP Enjoy, Luc

Pointer Detective - Inspecting an Object (instance) and Doing a "PointerDetective openOn: self." leads to a System Error in Pharo?

The object is a WhateverRoot instance (subclass of WAComponent) that has "canBeRoot ^true." Am I doing something wrong? PS. My "eagle eye" caught a typo on line 9 of the error. Editable text field inside Roassal/Trachel Canvas

Hi, is it possible to embed (any) editable text field inside Roassal? I managed to add the editor morph inside Trachel's athens canvas, however there is no way I can access it... my guess is that TRMorph takes all the events, or drawing the morph on the canvas destroys something. I tried it with PluggableTextFieldMorph (shows the border of the edit field, but no text), and TxTextEditorMorph (shows text). Is there any way around this? Adding the morph inside AthensWrapMorph works correctly, so my guess is that TRMorph must be doing something... perhaps I should also add it as a submorph of TRMorph somehow? Seaside - How do I install Scriptaculous on a clean Seaside install (via Configuration Browser) on Pharo?

I used the method described here to install Seaside3 on Pharo. All is well, but Scriptaculous doesn't come preinstalled. How do I get it? Seaside3 : 1: Go to the configuration manager 2: Select the Seaside 3 configuration. Click on Install. 3: Wait while it loads. Takes a couple of minutes on an i7 and a decent network link. 4: Open a Workspace and start a ZincServerAdaptor on the port you like (here 8080): ZnZincServerAdaptor startOn: 8080. (then CMD+d for Do It) 7: Access Seaside from your browser. 8: Install Scriptaculous, but how?

Seaside on Pharo - Why the weird jQuery integration syntax compared to Scriptaculous? Ex1: html scriptaculous sortable onUpdate: (html scriptaculous... etc). html jQuery new sortable onStop: (html jQuery... etc). Ex2: html scriptaculous effect id: helpId; toggleAppear. (html jQuery id: helpId) slideToggle: 1 seconds. The way jQuery and Scriptaculous were integrated 'seems' similar. Can anyone explain what design change took place between the two and it's effect on syntax? PS. Especially in the last example.

Hi all, How do i apply autoformatting to existing packages? I've read somewhere that this functionality used to be at the refactoring menu, but i can't find it, don't know if it has been renamed or moved. Best, Laura
