I need to run pharo headless and without gui for a Seaside app i am working on. I user pharo -vm-display-null --headless imagefile and does not work. May be someone can help me. TIA Ing. Problem: Scanning a bi-fold pamphlet produced a PDF with two non-contiguous pages per scanned image. After converting each page of the PDF into a png, compare the following approaches to split them in half: Assembler... I mean Write-Only... Why `aFileReference asString = aFileReference fullName` is false?

A frequent thing to do is to work with files, so their paths. Take the image directory for example: `FileLocator imageDirectory resolve asString` 1) Whatâs the reason to make `aFileReference asString` to be different to what `aFileReference fullName` answers? 2) Whatâs the practical use of the current answer of `aFileReference asString`?

Native language support

Hi all. I would like to use Pharo in my native language (Ukrainian in my case or Cyrillic), but I cannot enter some capital letters to Workspace / System Browser because it's fails on letters: CapsLock or Shift+<Keys> -> [~YGJK"V]. That behavior take place only in Pharo ver. 3 and 4. In Pharo 2.0 all keys working good! What is wrong? Platform - Windows XP

Pillar parser rewrite: PetitParser or not?

Hi, The current pillar parser has several problems: - it is hard to understand and change - it discards input locations I think a refactor or rewrite is necessary. What are the pros and cons of using PetitParser to do that? Best

GTTools and Mongo

After loading MongoTalk or VoyageMongo in Pharo 4 you can additionally load the package: "Mongo-Pharo-Tools" from mongotalk repo on SmalltalkHub. This way you can browse your mongo database (collections and documents) directly from within Pharo using GTInspector tools (see screenshot). Just by adding two methods - nice! Bye T.

Jenkins build trigger

Thanks to Esteban add-on on Smalltalkhub, it is now possible to notify Jenkins that there is a new package published for your project. What we do for now is to poll very often (each minute) smalltalkub to check if there is an update. It is a big waste of resources! Now we can do better! It would be very nice to update your jobs to now use the commit hook. Here is the way to go: go to your job configuration on Jenkins In the build triggers section, enable Trigger builds remotely (e.g., from scripts) and choose an authentication token. disable [URLTrigger] - Poll with a URL go to smalltalkhub, on your project settings page Fill in the commit hook url field with https://ci.inria.fr/pharo-contribution/buildByToken/build?job=JOBNAME&token… by replacing JOBNAME and TOKEN by the Jenkins job name and the token chosen. In the end, the build is now triggered immediately after the commit (no more delay). Christophe

stdout on windows

If I remember correctly from ST/MT and MSDN getting a handle to stdio means only to call "GetStdHandle" with STD_OUTPUT_HANDLE. So the basic reason is that stdout support was not implemented for Windows because it is different than Unix flavours and nobody seemed to care so far. Therefore Pharo on Windows uses a workaround (file) instead of completing the handling for Windows. Maybe it was the lack of time or knowledge or that NB was not ready yet. Dont know. I already have some initial support for consoles and reading/writing to it in the OSWindows project that could be loaded from config browser. This could be a base. So it is possible but as ever ... time and resources. Bye T.
