[ANN] Mathex 0.3 is out! How hard would it be to give the possibility to use it with Pillar?

Hi all, I just released Mathex 0.3, you can look at the release note here [1] if you want. :) I wonder how hard it would be to give the possibility to write Mathex directly inside Pillar? Mathex provide pdf/png generation under Linux, so it is possible to create images for non-LaTeX Pillar's exportation. Updated Pharo By Example

First of all thanks to all the people helping with the documentation. Now I think its the time to replace the old PBE with UPBE , we dont need to change the website just link to the newest pdf here https://ci.inria.fr/pharo-contribution/view/Books/job/UpdatedPharoByExample… Because UPBE at this moment is light years ahead of PBE. I just added doc for Spotter, Dark Theme, and the new Nautilus icons. If any of you wants to fix something on UPBE and does not have the confidence to do it directly , because you dont understand Pillar or you dont feel confident yet with Pharo you can still help me tremendously by adding your comment , your corrected text or your addition documentation as github issue here and I will put it in the book ASAP. https://github.com/SquareBracketAssociates/UpdatedPharoByExample/issues I will be resolving at least one issue per week from now on to make sure that UPBE is being pushed forward and remains by far the most up to date documentation of Pharo anywhere in this universe. But I cannot guarantee for other universes. How to programatically select an item in a Spec TreeModel ?

Hi ! I've been playing with Pharo again. In the application I'm building, I need to load a file from disk, and depending on what is inside this file, select an item in a tree that is displayed on the main window. The SearchableTree subclass I use is copied at the end of the email. It is nothing fancy, just creating the nodes from a fixed tree structure. The method selectedItemFRomPathArray (e.g. #('a' 'a1')) is the one that should be responsible for selecting the node, but for now it just returns the array of TreeNodeModel that correspond to the strings in the 'PathArray' given in argument. I tried the following in a PlayGround : w := CRPJCategories2 new. w openWithSpec. Problem to connect Seaside and Pharo

Hello, I have a problem to connect Seaside and Pharo. I explain : ZnZincServerAdaptor is running. When I open localhost:8080, it works. When I want to configure a new entry, I can't find the class that I made on Pharo. I have put the method canBeRoot with true as return value on a class but I can't find it. Can you help me ? Objects on demand for big collections

How to store an image file as a method source

So how you guys covert image files to strings to be stored as method sources ? I want to make a custom GUI that will contain a lot of images and I am a bit on a dilema whether I should put the images as method source as we do already with pharo icons OR just link to external files and find how I can download those files from Pharo. No idea whats the best course of action . Any suggestions ?

A stopwatch tool with calendar support

So my story goes a bit like this, I keep track of the time I spend doing 3d graphics practice and I keep calendar to make sure I spend at least 30 hours per week practicing 3d graphics. But I was bored doing it with pencil and paper and a stopwatch and I thought it would be way cooler to make a tool in Pharo that is able to do this. Basically just a stopwatch that records on the calendar my times. Took very little time to find how to do this , it was as simple as watch := Stopwatch new. watch activate. watch end. watch duration . watch suspend. â label := LabelMorph new. [[label contents: watch asString]repeat]fork. â label openInWindow. I plan to make this part of my Ephestos project and I was wondering if anyone would want this as a separate tool or there is already something doing similar thing around.

Exploring a data matrix with sunburst

Hi, I'm trying to make a visualization for medicine information and the idea is to visualize it following a similar pattern to what is shown at [1], but in this case, each arc is a medicine and each layer inside the arc is a published property information of that medicine. Because of that, seems that the best approach is to use a matrix, containing in the rows the properties for each medicine and in the columns the medicine. [1] http://www.theguardian.com/world/interactive/2012/may/08/gay-rights-united-… I can produce such matrix with dummy data, but when I try to explore it using sunburst I'm not getting the proper visualization (look the attachment). That's because sunburst uses hierarchy and recursion to pass from the inner circles to the outer ones. So my question is: how can I use sunburst to explore a matrix, being the inner circles the first row, the second, the second row and so on. Thanks, Offray
