It's for people with a slow connection and they lament about the slowdown - not the functionality. For this group it feels slow when opening Spotter - especially when the JSON rertrieved anytime you open it. As I said in the worst case one could put: CatalogSettings displayCatalogProjectsInSpotter: false. into the startup script or change in settings browser if one works on a really slow connection. This is already in latest Pharo image of today. >Another option is to provide an intermediary object. Wasn't the idea of Spotter to "just type" without having to know too much context? I think a cache for the catalog projects for the spotter search (that is invalidated at image startup) could solve the problem: When Spotter opens the FIRST time the projects are retrieved, nonetheless all the other items are already displayed. So the catalog projects appear lazy when retrieved (as it is now). For any following search the quick cache projects can be used without slowdowns. The server side of Catalog only updates each 24 hours anyway - so the contents is usually valid for the image session. If there are still people left who (due to a real slow connection) find this initial one-time retrieval annoying then they can disable it as described above. Nonetheless we get really offtopic from the original subject of this thread... Thanks T.

The catalog stuff just appears "deferred" when the info was retrieved but the spotter tool opens right away and classes and others could be used as usual. Still it would not make sense to retrieve it anytime you open spotter - thats why I think a cache would be suitable so we do it just one time per image session. Thanks T.

That is why opening Spotter on the other side of the World is so slowâ¦ >Yes please, remove this. Really. It does not bring much. On the other side of the world (where network is faster) one can just open spotter, enter a name or name fragment of a project/framework like "Roassal" hit enter and load it without much hazzle. I now added an option/setting so you can disable the spotter integration if required. See attachement. Will be in with the next iteration of catalog browser. Thanks T.

Consider this: g works fine, but If I try to put it on a composite one I get this: So just axis without any data. because its simpler to understand and because I made it work the way I wanted faster than the Rubric alternatives. For example finding the cursor position for a RubScrolledTextMorph is even worse and is located at textArea selectionInterval which I did not even find by myself because the name would never have me guessed that selection had anything to do with cursor position. But I was told so by another smalltalker at slack chat. And even though my code formating worked great with TextMorph via keyStroke message when I tried to port my code to the Rubric keyStroke alternative it stopped working and I did not manage to find out why before I finally managed to find how to get the cursor position from a TextMorph. Generally speaking Morphic is my first choice for the simple fact that when it comes to Rubric, Glamour, Spec or whatever else Morphic still remains the basis. So if I am going to learn Morphic anyway then I might as well make it my first choice and when it cant do what I want the easy way then I will look into the alternatives. Frankly I really like Morphic. Still new to it, but its generally design makes more sense to me than other pharo GUI APIs. At first I thought that TextMorph>>cursor would return me the position of the cursor relative to its text so if I have a text like "hello" and cursor (that blinking thing) was at "o" it would return 6 but no, whatever position I try it returns always 1 . With rubric I found no way to do this either. Anyone has a clue, or to I need some kind of pharo dark magic ? Is this a bug , a feature or something in between ?

Hi, currently to open a Playground via shortcut one has to type <cmd>+o+w, that's because it used to open Workspace. However since it now opens Playground the shortcut is no longer appropriate. So can we change it to <cmd>+o+p? (This shortcut is currently occupied by Monticello Browser, but that can be movd to <cmd>+o+m which is free.) You could argue that people are used to this shortcut, however that will not be true for newcommers, who will just see it as random naming (which it currently is). Peter

How to make an input field with some formating abilities

What I want is to create a morph that has the ability to input text from the user that formats it automatically and allows for a limited amount of characters. This input field will be in the format of HH:MM:SS , (H)our (M)inute (S)econd. The : seperators will be entered automagically by the input field and of course the input field should accept numbers and preferably sensible ones , so seconds and minutes will have a maximum of 60, hours 24. Is this possible with the existing Morphs or is this something I must implement myself ? I have been looking to the textmorph and all its subclasses but I have not made a lot of sense out of it, it looks very messy code.
