Hello, I want to make my first app with seaside and a database, as database I use Postgres with the P3 driver of Glorp. So I have a class Customer with the instance variables. AndÂ I have a Descriptorclass which takes care of the database. AndÂ I want to make a class which holds the layout. But now I wonder ifÂ I want to make a function that adds a customer from a form. Or a page where I display all customersÂ or details of a customer. Do I have to place them in the database layer and call that function or can I use the customer class for that. Regards, Roelof

Checking baseline before publishing

Hi, How can I check that my baseline works without having to publish everything, check that it fails and then going to the origin, fixing, etc? I might be particularly idiot to always miss something, I usually have to try at least four times (in a blank image) that my Baseline, dependencies, etc. works as expected. Pharo.exe and PharoConsole.exe VM Difference

Hi, What is the difference between the Pharo.exe and PharoConsole.exe? They have the same size, but are binary different. I'd expect the PharoConsole to run headless by default, but it is not the case. So... is this documented anywhere? Thanks! Esteban A. Maringolo

Smalltalkhub is now in archive mode (static version)

Hi all, Since May, Smalltalk is in read-only mode, allowing people to get back their data and move it to another forge if needed. We had several unexpected downtimes with the deprecated version of Smalltalkub (different software stack due to server migration). To enhance the user experience, we put the static version of Smalltalkhub Â« SmalltalkHub archive Â» on-line as the official http://smalltalkhub.com service. It was already announced that it will be done in November but we decided to do it earlier because it improves the current state: - faster and reliable downloads from smalltalkhub.com (mcz files are no longer stored in a Mongo DB but served as static files) - Smalltalkhub archive still allows to list projects, search for a project, see packages, contributors, commits - deprecated version of smalltalkhub is still on-line until November at http://deprecated.smalltalkhub.com/. [ANN] JRMPC 2021 in Jeopardy

JRMPC 2021 <https://jrmpc2021.wordpress.com/> is about to commence registration in less than two weeks. Unfortunately, disaster has struck. Ryerson University's developer for the competition software has pulled out of the project at the last minute, so they are stuck. I am looking for a replacement on behalf of Ryerson, someone who can develop the competition software and meet the February deadline when the actual competition starts. That gives the person five months. The original developer had this idea <https://jrmpc2021.wordpress.com/2020/07/08/example-post/> for the competition format. His replacement may choose to run with this idea, or come up with an entirely new idea. The key objectives are: 1. the contestant submits his Pharo code solution (perhaps as a FileOut?) 2. the code is executed to arrive at a score 3. the highest score wins the competition 4. the competition runs should be automated (manual runs for up to 250 contestants would be painful) As an incentive, I am offering a CAN$1,000 bonus for anyone who steps up. I know it's not a huge incentive but it shows how desperate we are. Meanwhile, we are exploring other options, but they are few. Iceberg "adopt commit" behavior

Hi, What does the "Adopt commit" mean? It seems like a rebase, but I'm not sure. I often have ongoing changes in my image, and also changes in the filesystem (css, js, Dockerfile, etc.). So what I do is to commit on the filesystem, and then "adopt" the recently created commit, and then commit in Iceberg (and probably push). Is this okay? Is there any risk in doing this? Regards! How to print playground contents as I type them.

Hi, I have an annoying bug in Grafoscopio. While text nodes are updated as I write them, code nodes capture the penultimate keystroke. So, when I revisit a text node all the typed content is there, but when I do the same with a code (playground) node I found the last character lost (this is particularly annoying when the last keystroke is a key completion or a cut and paste operation that happens in a single combined stroke). When I was programming the notebook behavior I remember dealing with transmissions between parts of the playground and the rest of the UI and how to capture playground events. So I think that a minimal test example would be to send to the Transcript, keystrokes from the playground as they happen and to see which the the message that capture them all. So, How can I print playground contents as I type them in the playground? Thanks, Offray
