This is cool... After I booted TinyCore Linux[1] on my 10-year-old netbook[2], I decided to see if it could run Pharo... It does! Details: [1] http://tinycorelinux.net/ - TinyCore Linux "CorePlus", 32-bit, version 11.1. - Booted from a YUMI multiboot thumbdrive. - Installed 'curl', 'bash', Firefox (to access 'pharo.org' site for download info). Briefly, you cannot and (for a different reason) you should not. The IsbnVerifierTest class defines the API; the method must be isValidIsbn: aString and it MUST be on the instance side. The reason why you shouldn't is that an empty string should NOT be a special case. This is a problem where the design style described by Dijkstra in "A Discipline of Programming" and further fleshed out by Reynolds and Gries in related books pays off. You want to inspect all the characters of the string once each in a single left-to-right loop. Getting rid of .sources file for deployment

Hi, Is there a way to get rid the .sources file in a deployment scenario? I followed this guide [1], but I cannot get rid of the .sources files, because I'm using PharoADO (which uses PharoCOM) and it uses some reflection for FFI and for some reason that implies using the .sources file. I installed the FFICompilerPlugin as per the instructions, but I don't have a way to tell whether I did in the right place/moment, nor how to assess its proper installation. If such [2] .sources file cannot be removed, what is the criteria for the lookup, can it be renamed or modified via some parameter/config? Thanks! Rewrite Tool Set in Spec2

Greetings to all, Sebastian is developing a tool to build and test Rewrite Rules. It is built on the basis of MatchTool and RewriteTool. I have ported, refactored, and enhanced these tools to be compatible with Pharo 9 and with Spec2. So, in this tool you have these tools ported and ready to be used. But also, it has more tools and more functionalities, all integrated into one in this new tool. This is technically a set of modular tools that can be used separately or in suitable conjunction. As the tool is in developing, the only thing missing is the integration with RewriteTool. The rest of the tools and functionalities work adequately. So, you can use it just fine. Pharo code documentation

Ciao, i would need to document the code i develop in pharo. Relationships between classes, class instance names, etc. etcâ¦ I think of block diagrams. Quite right ? I wonder if everything is manageable directly in Pharo or if I have to use another program ( which one ? ) Do you have any advice on this issue ? Thanks, Dario

ZnClient - how suppress popup notifications

Before I get to my problem. I want to thank Sven for the huge effort that had to be made to provide all of the Zinc networking tools. Thank you. I am using ZnClient in an app. It is working fine. But I do not want any UI Notifications. This will eventually be headless on a server. But right now in development when the internet goes out I get a pop up from NameLookupFailure which offers me the options of "Give Up" or "Retry". I need to suppress this popup. I already have Error handling code which will catch NameLookupFailure among many other network based errors. Also, is there a better way to check if the network is up other than simply making a request and either getting a successful response or an Error? Thanks for any help. Jimmie

Scaled decimals comparisons

Hi, I was doing some basic calculations based on a formula, and I wanted to convert the result to a scaled decimal in order to avoid having these "loose" decimals in 10th position or something similar. So I did the following: 82 - (2 * 35.9) - (0 / 2) * (113/121) asScaledDecimal: 1 -> 9.5s1 But When I do this in a test: (82 - (2 * 35.9) - (0 / 2) * (113/121) asScaledDecimal: 1) = 9.5s1 It fails because the comparison returns false. I guess this is the proper behavior, but I'd expected that the conversion from a Float to a scaled decimal would have eliminated the extra precision from the formula. I can do a roundTo: 0.1 before converting, but I'd like to know what would be the proper way of dealing with this. Thanks! Esteban A. Maringolo

Epicea and multiple images - mixed changes
