We thank you for this. We really tried to improve Roassal3 and specially to provide a smooth and intuitive API to lower the entrance bar for Roassal3. Now is time to enter a new reviewing phase. Our ultimate goal is to provide the visualization engine that the Pharo and Smalltalk communities deserve. The GiHub page contains some information, including a small tutorial: https://github.com/ObjectProfile/Roassal3 Additional tutorials will soon come. You can install Roassal3 either from the catalog (just look for Roassal3), or execute the following instruction: Metacello new baseline: âRoassal3â; repository: âgithub://ObjectProfile/Roassal3â; load. StringSlice

Hi, I was working on parsing longer texts, and my program was extracting substrings which sometimes were rather large. Not that it actually caused any problems, but it kind of hurt my feel for good code to do that. It has most surely been done before, but here it is again then, string slices. https://github.com/kasperosterbye/StringUtilities A string slice a substring obtained by a start and an end index into an existing string. It is thus possible to get substrings without copying the bytes of the original string - at least for a large number of operations. I have spend a lot of energy in getting it to work right with both ByteString and WideString, and to let string slices to be protocol compliant with the whole String protocol (except slices are read-only). Feel free to enjoy and laugh. In the work with doing StringSlice as a subclass of String, I collected a few issues in String. Those are mentioned at: https://github.com/kasperosterbye/StringUtilities/blob/master/StringIssues.… . The baseline does not load the tests, but they are there if you want to check that too. I have tried the library on Pharo 7, 8 and 9 (as of 2020-02-04). Best, Kasper

Is there a "smalltalk" way of displaying all the icons that are available in spec? Or a website with all the images, just so that I can have a "bird eye's view" of the data?

ButtonPresenter in Spec2

Is [ButtonPresenter] in the new spec2? In Spec1, anyway, it seems to be subclassed from [AbstractWidgetPresenter] which is subclassed from [ComposablePresenter], but doesn't seem anywhere in the Spec2 package, as far as I can tell. I checked spotter and it seems [ButtonPresenter] is deprecated now. What is the "Spec2" way of placing buttons? There are references to it in some of the demos, but I can't get the demos to work.

Test method auto-generation in Calypso

Hi, I have this idea of typing a method in a Browser and have another code area in the same browser where the method test is "automagically generated". This is, divide the current method pane in two: One for the method being written itself, and another for its test, where at least the method selector could be autogenerated by writing testXXXX Of course being able to jump to the method test would be super nice! (and with a keyboard shortcut). This reminds myself to write the method now instead of forget it forever. Any hints to make this happen in Calypso? Cheers, HernÃ¡n

Strange Spec2 SpDemo and Pharolauncher bug

Invoking /SpDemo open/ from the playground completely locks up Pharo 8. This is strange as SpDemo runs Ok when invoked from the Help menu (Spec2 Examples) and also runs Ok when you click on the green arrow against the method in Calypso and invoke it through the <example> pragma. The culprit is Pharolauncher. if you set PharoLauncher to /Quit On Launch/ then the bug does not happen. It only occurs when PharoLauncher is runningl. I'm on Xubuntu 19.10, Pharo 8 64 bit and Pharolauncher 1.9.2-x64. This happens on a competely clean and new installation. -- Sent from: http://forum.world.st/Pharo-Smalltalk-Users-f1310670.html
