(Re)storing code blocks from text strings (hopefully in STON)

Hi, I'm using STON for all my light storage serialization needs, like the Grafoscopio notebooks, and I also love it, as Russ stated in their mail question, and I share with him a similar request: for my Brea[1] static site generator I would like to store some BreaQuery objects as external STON files, and recover them, so I can run the queries that recreate/update the website easily. I could store them as Grafoscopio notebooks, but I don't want to make Grafoscopio a prerequisite for Brea or I could use Fuel, but I would like to store queries as a diff friendly text based format. I have considered Metacello/Iceberg packages to export code in a diff friendly format, but It maybe overkill. So I would like to see if STON can serve me here too. Hey, all.. I am taking the Pharo Mooc, and was wondering: is there any way to change the color next to the test method name? I am colorblind, and I canât tell the different between green and yellow. [ANN] New Pharo VM released (v8.6.1)

Hi, this is an announcement of a new release of the Pharo VM. This new version is available to be downloaded through get-pharo scripts and through the Pharo Launcher. From the Pharo Launcher, remember to update the VM from the VM manager window. This version includes a series of improvements: - Unification of code base with the headless VM - Preparation for supporting HDPI displays. - Improvements in the speed of Threaded FFI (40x times faster in SameThread runner and 2x in Threaded worker). - Better handling of semaphores - Improvements in the loading of large images (better buffering) - Better support for headless execution on non-main thread Please let me know if you find any issues. The next meeting of the UK Smalltalk User Group will be on Wednesday, November 25th. Stephen Travis Pope will present Siren9 and CSL6 - Frameworks and Applications for Sound/Music Creation and Processing. The Siren system ( https://github.com/stpope/Siren9 ) is a general-purpose software framework for music and sound composition, processing, performance, and analysis; it is a collection of about 350 classes written in Smalltalk-80 (40 kLOC or so). The current version of Siren (9.0) works on VisualWorks Smalltalk and supports streaming I/O via OpenSoundControl (OSC), MIDI, and multi-channel audio ports. The CREATE Signal Library (CSL)( https://github.com/stpope/CSL6 ) is a cross-platform C++ framework for digital audio signal synthesis, analysis, spatialization and interactive sound/music application development. CSL was developed at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) starting in the late 1990s. This presentation will introduce both package and demonstrate their use together to construct real-time compositional and music synthesis software. Stephen Travis Pope ( http://heaveneverywhere.com/stp ) is an award-winning composer, film-maker, computer scientist and social activist based in Santa Barbara, California. He is currently active as a software development contractor and intellectual property expert through FASTLab. His music and video compositions are released through HeavenEverywhere Media. Stephen has used the Smalltalk programming system since 1984 and made several significant contributions to it, though he remains frustrated by programming environments in general. The Workshopâs goal is to gather together practitioners and researchers to discuss on progresses on the research and on the practical usage of blockchain technologies and smart contracts, focusing on the application and definition of Software Engineering principles and practices specific for such software technology, and for the technologies relying on it.
