Issues with build: 160, commit: b84a1e1 of the Pharo 7.0.3 image?

Hi, I just launched a new Pharo 7.0 - 32bit (stable) from the pharo launcher. Got back an image from build: 160, commit: b84a1e1 First issue I noticed was a broken (?) component in the Wellcome screen (red block with yelllow border and diagonals). Then, after insalling Seaside and trying to add a new adaptor (via the Seaside launcher), an instance of MenuItemPresenter did not understand #isEnabled. No of these issues are present in a clean image obtained with the zeroconf script (build: 158, commit: 0903ade image). Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? Do templates update automatically when a new build is available? Yours, Alejandro

Loading Gettext on already installed Seaside

Hi, I have a Pharo 7.0 image with Seaside installed on it. Now i want to add Gettext but i'm not able to do it yet. Metacello new baseline:'Seaside3'; repository: 'github://SeasideSt/Seaside:master/repository'; load: #('Seaside-Gettext-Core' 'Seaside-Gettext-Examples') Fail because 'Seaside-Gettext-Core' name not found. More likely because BaselineOfSeaside3>>baselinegettext: does not include a tag for Pharo 7. TestCases and forked processes in TestResource don't play well

Hi, I'm developing a web application using (amongst others) WebSockets. To prevent test methods from becoming too big and slow I created a TestCase with a TestResource containing my web application instance. After the first test method is run, the WebSocket is closed unexpectedly and automagically. It turns out that all forked processes are terminated when a TestCase has executed a test method. What would be the proper way to prevent these forked processes from terminating after a single test method? Or am I missing something/doing something wrong? TestExecutionEnvironment>>#checkForkedProcesses is responsible for terminating any (non failed) processes. It is executed after TestExecutionEnvironment>>#runTestCaseSafelly: [sic: this should be #runTestCaseSafely:]. A possible solution might be to check whether the Context in which a forked process was created has the #setUp method of a TestResource of the TestCase (you still with me ;-) in its Context chain. If that is the case, the process is probably forked for a reason. This forked process does have to be terminated when all TestCases have finished of course (when the TestResource does #tearDown). IFF the forked processes should be kept alive during the execution of all TestCase methods, does the suggested solution above seem logical or are there any (better) alternatives? An IPFS interface for Pharo

Hi everyone, Over the last weeks I have started to explore IPFS more seriously. IPFS, the Inter-Planetary File System, is supposed to be the next-generation Web: a decentralized content-addressed database. Since there is nothing better then Pharo for exploring databases, I have started to write an IPFS interface to Pharo: https://github.com/khinsen/ipfs-pharo It connects to a local IPFS server, so you have to have one running. It's surprisingly straightforward to install and configure, unless you have to fight with firewalls that block IPFS traffic. Feedback of any kind is welcome! Cheers, Konrad.

How to render video frames?

Hello, I'm experimenting with an integration between OpenCV and Pharo based on uFFI. My native C library opens a video camera and captures frames for detecting certain points (aka blobs) of interest for my use case. The data for these frames are available to Pharo as uchar* inside a C struct. My issues came when I tried to render the video camera frames inside Pharo. The C examples I developed for testing the shared library show frames around 50-60 fps. However, the best I have got in Pharo is around 15-20 fps. My first try consisted of writing an specific ImageReadWriter for the OpenCV image format, so I can build a Form for each frame and render it with Morphic. This way I can render the video camera in GTInspector, but at a terrible 5-10 fps. The second try was to use Bloc to render the Forms. I though the Moz2D backend will provider better performance. Indeed, I got around 15-20 fps, but it is still insufficient for playing video smoothly. My current try consist of using BlExternalForm to avoid all the frame data processing inside Pharo, but I'm finding problems to render this kind of "shallow" Forms using Bloc. I've also find some old mails (2017) about ClÃ©ment Bera working in games based on Cairo + SDL. Should I explore this approach for video rendering? In summary, I don't know what is the recommended approach (if any) to show a sequence of video frames with decent bit-rate. Thank you!

Modeling HABTM

I am currently putting together a Seaside website for my radio show. I am trying to figure out how to model the "has and belongs to many" relationships. Each episode can have many tracks, each of these tracks can belong to several episodes. I want to be able to present a listing of which episodes each track appears in, and a listing of tracks for each episode. The approach I have seen on this is to create an intermediary object and store a set of ids on this, but this seems a little clunky, and it seems like there would be a clean way to do this. Am I missing something? IceGenericError: Failed to connect to github.com: Interrupted system call

Hi guys, In Pharo 7.0.3 I get an Iceberg error while cloning a repository. I tried to fix dependent repositories, I guess there is something weird in Diacriticals (https://github.com/hernanmd/Diacriticals) however I have no clue what's wrong there. I can reproduce it in a clean image by evaluating: Metacello new baseline: 'StringExtensions'; repository: 'github://hernanmd/StringExtensions/repository'; load. Any idea what could be wrong?
