Hello, I wonder if I can solve the TwillioQuest with Pharo. I then have to write code to send SMS and return a respons a a SMS. is this possible in Pharo and can I use for example teapot for it ? and if it possible does anyone have a example of how to send a SMS with Twillio. Regards, Roelof

[ANN] ReStore for Pharo - object<>relational database framework

Hello, At ESUG 2018 I gave a presentation on some aspects of ReStore, my object<>relational database framework for Dolphin Smalltalk. Afterwards a number of people asked if ReStore was available for Pharo, the answer at the time unfortunately being âno". A year later I found myself with some spare time and decided to look at porting ReStore to Pharo (mainly to give myself some experience with Pharo). Iâm pleased to say ReStore is now available for Pharo and can be found at my GitHub account: https://github.com/rko281/ReStoreForPharo <https://github.com/rko281/ReStoreForPharo> Initially ReStore supports SQLite via UDBC and PostgreSQL via P3; kudos and thanks to the authors of these packages. Documentation largely remains on the âto doâ list but the ReadMe gives a flavour of what ReStore is and what it can do via a few simple examples. Please feel free to post any questions here and Iâll do my best to answer them. I hope some of you find ReStore useful! John Aspinall

Hi, I added a new example to Zinc HTTP Components, a simple in-memory key-value store exposed as a REST web service (ZnKeyValueStoreDelegate) and a client to access this service over HTTP (ZnKeyValueStoreClient). Check the class comments for a more detailed explanation. ZnKeyValueStoreTest #testUsage and #setUp implement a runnable example and functional test. Roassal 2 Stable: Problem browsing the source code of the examples

Hi, We were at our usual data activism workshop, trying to visualize a tag cloud some Tweets about the civic strike in Colombia. Is happening all over Latin America, France, Hong Kong..., So would be nice to have a broad overview over the noise created by social media. Anyway, we installed the stable version of Roassal 2 over Pharo 7 and when trying to browse the source code of any example in the example browser we got the following error message when clicking on the Playground tab (nearby to the canvas): Instance of RBSequenceNode did not understand #formattedCodeWithMaxLineLength: This was a good opportunity to show other ways to approach to the code, but I think is important to improve a smoother experience for newcomers, including the ability to go from canvas to the source code in Roassal examples browser. Any clue about what is happening to the Roassal 2 Examples Browser? Thanks, Offray

Calypso loading code spinner

It is happening to me very often that to access the source of a method, or sometimes to find senders/implementors, the Calypso browser takes a long time to load it. By long I mean from two to five seconds, sometimes longer. I'm running Pharo 7 within a VirtualBox VM with Ubuntu 16.04 in a Windows 10 host. Hi Myroslava, I read your post (actually a few of them) and I have some questions: - I was surprised to read about n-gram model because at least in NLP was outperformed by modern DL approaches. But then I read you considered RNN (and maybe attention model?) so it sounds really interesting. - Do you plan to benchmark agains TabNine? I know they are a black box, but they seem to support Smalltalk https://github.com/zxqfl/TabNine/blob/master/languages.yml - ERNIE 2.0 supports continual learning (AFAIK this was only applied to NLP) so develop something which learns incrementally would be an option for your PhD? One problem, for me, of code prediction is gathering enough context information to make informed predictions (I ignore if there is something like GLUE benchmarks for code). This means to propose contextualized completions based on multiple factors: for example the class where I am positioned in the Browser, the recent used/written methods, etc. Of course the possibilities are infinite! Just thinking out loud. Ring, Athena, Rubric, Calypso, Morphic, Block,â¦

Cheers I was wondering if there is somewhere all these subparts of Pharo are listed, and if it is also listed (and maintained) which ones are on their way out, and which are being updated and to what. I still find it truly baffling. What I am looking for is a list somewhat like this: * Ring (RG), A Model to allow Calypso browser (and other tools) to access source-code outside the image using the same protocols as those inside the image. A lot of name changes from Pharo 7 to 8. * Rubric (Rub), the fundamental Text edit classes in Pharo. Used inside most of the text editing tools of Pharo. Took over after âTextMorphâ. ??? Is it about to be deprecated??? * Morphic, The fundamental classes for building graphical user interfaces in Smalltalk and Pharo since Squeak. In principle on its way out, but â¦. I do not even know if those three lines are true!!! Is there such a list somewhere? Is it still worth the effort to dive deeper into Morph?, Will there ever be a TxText as mentioned in the class comment of RubAbstractTextArea? â¦??? Best, Kasper

Cache for ZnClient

Is there any library/setting that adds "cache" to ZnClient? I'm doing some web scrapping with ZnClient, and sometimes I request the same pages (~300) more than once, and I'd like to save requests (and time) by simply retrieving what's in the cache (since the content doesn't change frequently). Maybe there other way is to put an HTTP proxy in between and ask the local proxy. Regards, Esteban A. Maringolo

I looked at the site and I knocked out day 1. These are little programming puzzles you can do in a playground. Day 1's first puzzles is literally a 1 liner. The story telling obfuscates the problem and can make the problem seem harder than it is. You have to learn to cut through the noise and see the problem. You are supposed to find the amount of fuel required to launch a given mass into space in a rocket. This is the key paragraph. "Fuel required to launch a given module is based on its mass. Specifically, to find the fuel required for a module, take its mass, divide by three, round down, and subtract 2." The code for this is: fuel := (mass / 3) floor - 2. The floor function rounds downwards. To round up you use ceiling. You have a list of modules though. If you click to get your module mass list, its a page with one number per line. Getting this into a collection is really easy. masses := #( <paste contents of input data copied from web page here> ) and execute that in your playground. This is your input data. To get the fuel for each mass, a collect: seems like a winner. fuels := masses collect: [:mass | (mass / 3) floor - 2 ]. The final thing he wants is the total amount of fuel required. You just add up the numbers. total := fuels sum. I leave the second puzzle of day 1 to you, it is almost the same except you have to iteratively calculate the fuel to lift the fuel you add. To do this you end up putting a loop into the collect; block and executing it over and over until the amount of additional fuel is <= zero. I hope this gets you going.
