I had completely misunderstood the problem. Checking the items in oc2 shows that they are literally the same object. So, it would seem that I have to run copy, or some other method to get a unique object. I can see that this would make sense from an efficiency perspective. Reusing the same object would presumably save memory space. However, it would probably be good to update the comment to let people know that this will happen. What is the process for submitting suggested improvements to class comments? Cheers Andy

Fuel serialize of 70MB takes forever on Linux vs. Mac

Hi all! I have a performance problem with Fuel (latest stable) on a Pharo 6.1 (32bit) on Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS. The serialization and storage to disk of 70MB of data takes more than 6 minutes! While the same task on an equally powerful Mac takes only 1.5 minutes. My observation was, that on Linux it is very very slow while writing the file. The first 30MB of the file are written very fast, but after that the writing speed drops dramatically. On the same Linux server, but the application running on an old Pharo 1.4, the serialization was always as fast as on the Mac. Attached you see an excerpt of the Pharo Time profiler output for the serialization. The profiling tree looks the same on the Mac, just with faster times. What could be the hidden speed eating secret on Linux for Pharo6.1? I have absolutely no idea where to search! Memory? Streams? File writing support? Something inside Fuel? Thanks for any help! Iceberg, Git and Package version

Hello, How are packages versions computed in Iceberg? I am looking at the Metacello documentation at 'Deep in Pharo', it says I can define dependencies at package level and it uses the following format to identify versions: <dev_name.versionNumber>; which I think is a pattern used by Monticello, right? However, I can't figure what is the equivalent (if any) in Iceberg. Thanks in Advance, Vitor

Regex negative look behind

Hello - newbie question here. Is the regex implememtation meant to handle negative lookbehind, or is that out of scope? Something like (?<!-)\b[0-9]+ (which should not match negative integers) When I try to turn the string into a regex I'm getting a parsing error. Problem fetching a baseline

Hello, I am experimenting with Metacello but I am having problems to test my configuration. First I thought the problem was with my configuration, but after serveral atemps I tried to fetch an arbitrary Baseline from default image: Metacello new className: 'BaselineOfTonel'; baseline: 'Tonel'; fetch. And I got the following error: "Could not resolve: BaselineOfTonel [BaselineOfTonel] in C:\Users\Vitor\Documents\Pharo\images\Pharo 6.1 (stable)\pharo-local\package-cache http://smalltalkhub.com/mc/Pharo/MetaRepoForPharo30/main/" Which is the same I got with my own project. I tried using 'repository:' also, but got the same error. Package reference in Monticello

Hello, Is it possible to reference a 'package with tag' as a package in a Monticello configuration? Such packages don't have a folder in filetree, so, for example: Package1-Tag1 Package1-Tag2 There will be only one folder in filetree named Package1 and classes from Package1-Tag1 and Package1-Tag2 will be inside Package1and have, respectivelly, category Package1-Tag1 and Package1-Tag2. If I wanna use Iceberg, Git and reference Package1-Tag1 and Package1-Tag2 as packages in a Monticello spec, will I have to promote them to a full Packages? image/vm mismatch on raspberry pi model 3

Hi, Having copied a viable pair of image+changes and its associated sources file to a pi 3, in the same directory as the directory from the zip file (from https://ci.inria.fr/pharo/view/RaspberryPi/job/RaspberryPi-Publish/ws/64.zip) containing the VM code for a rpi, on running ./PharoS Pharo6.1 I get the message "This interpreter (vers. 6505) cannot read image file (vers. 6521)." How does one ensure a match between VM and image+sources on raspberry pi ? I have also tried one image pair from an earlier version and get a similar message. thanks Greg

Learning Morphic

I am primarily interested in graphical shapes and bit maps (for fractals). I want to put graphical shapes or bitmaps in a window or bordered area. I have not been very successful in finding documentation about how to do this in Morphic. In contrast, I find the documentation for Roassal easy to find and to the point. Perhaps someone could point me to Morphic documentation (or supply examples) on my area of interest that includes a lot of examples. Thanks.
