Lint Rule for Class-Side Method

I'm probably missing something obvious, but it seems like #checksMethod Lint Rules only get checked against instance-side methods. How does one check class-side methods? I converted it to a #checksClass rule, but then hits showed the class definition instead of the offending method source. Hello Hi All ... reposting with some changes in the requirement, I am looking for a Pharo + Seaside Consultant / Guide to help re-develop our business applications in Pharo+Seaside (+Web Stack +Postgres/Sqlite). The person can work from where-ever on any convenient basis. The consultant has to architect, design and develop the base application framework, i.e.the foundation classes (the abstract classes) alongwith a sample implementation and then guide junior teams to reuse these classes into the complete application. The applications to be developed / transformed can be seen at http://www.minisoftindia.com/products, and most have been in use for years. (the ones shown on the website are on a dated desktop platform, though developed somewhat in an object-oriented style) The application behaviour of current applications on our site can be used as a reference, but these are to be totally transformed in style and behavior for a web based applications. Skills required would be Overall web based application design, UI design (including for mobile), Database interface design and communication over the Web. The database server itself will be a separately hosted server to be interfaced to apllications on different physical server. The database and data structures are mostly in place and that side we can handle ... all the applications are currently running robustly. Our guess is that there would be around say 20 abstract classes each with a a coulple of sample subclass implementations to be done in an over time frame. This is a commercial arrangement for a flat fee and if you are interested interested may please drop a mail to info(a)minisoftindia.com. Porting to Solaris 11

I'm currently porting the Pharo VM to Solaris 11 for a specific project (Sparc and x86). I was wondering how many users prefer the stack VM, as for my own purposes the JIT is better (better concurrency when not using OS functions on a 128 thread machine, which is the deployment target). difficult to kill objects - pesky hanging pointersTo

Sometimes its *really* hard to kill some objects. It seems that inspecting a list of pointersTo creates additional hanging references. This was frustrating me just now, so I finally hacked a way forward. Sharing it in case its useful to others, and also I can find it again searching the list. This needs to run for each object. Smalltalk garbageCollect. target := ClassOfObjectsThatMustDie allInstances first. SystemNavigation default allObjectsDo: [ :e | (e isKindOf: Association) ifTrue: [ e value = target ifTrue: [ e value: nil ] ]. (e isKindOf: Array) ifTrue: [ 1 to: e size do: [ :i | (e at: i) = target ifTrue: [ e at: i put: nil ] ] ] ]. target := nil. Smalltalk garbageCollect. cheers -ben

[ANN] Territorial Re-Licensing

I consider GNU AGPL v3 a fair license choice which protects somehow authors. After some talks with friends today, I began to consider it useless for a niche community like Smalltalk *and* solo projects. I then read all your mails, many posts in other communities, and finally asked for advices. Conclusion: The ideal license option for me was not yet invented. Now about parasite behavior and easy living for freeloaders. - I doubt Smalltalkers are in position for doing anything valuable against parasites. GPL scares a niche community. All of us having MIT code published can be stealed and we have no legal options to defend our work/authorship. That should be addressed one day. - However, I would like one day to read people releasing software under whatever license they want and not to be pointed them. That's a matter of freedom. I feel we are far away from there. - I hope we can talk about interesting Territorial features, what do you need, what could be modeled better, etc. Licensing is boring, really. I re-licensed Territorial to MIT for the nice Pharo people, for the nice Smalltalkers, people who helped me here in mailing lists, or sending supportive private messages, and for cool users with nice intentions. Small OS-... project addition

Hi, now also the OSX project in the OS series [1] has support to - directly open a terminal - directly open a file browser (Finder) on the working directory right from the Pharo tools menu. Spur problem?

Hi, While working on a Pharo 5 image for 3-4 hours, I got an image crash and I was no more able to start the image from the UI interface. When starting the image from the command line I got the following error: Pharo(50871,0xa02c91a8) malloc: *** error for object 0x1af7a04: incorrect checksum for freed object - object was probably modified after being freed. *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug fish: '/Users/ubhatti/temp/vm-spur/Phaâ¦' terminated by signal SIGBUS (Misaligned address error). The image is about 973 Mb (Moose + seaside + a model for a big industrial software). This message might not go beyond reporting an error that I do not know how to produce neither can I share the image (it contains client proprietary software model and hence we are restricted). Just to let you know that there was a problem and n ask if someone has encountered it before? regards. Usman

Spec: InputWidget question

I've been trying for several days to get the Spec InputWidget to work as expected. I've been running the "example2" example. If you enter text in the input field and press the "enter" key, then the input text is returned. But, if you click the "Ok" button rather than "enter" key, then the input text field is empty. I've tried to dig into why, but I stymied.
