Hi all, 20 years ago I wrote an application in SmallTalk-V that I'm porting now to Pharo since Smalltalk-V doesn't run 64-bit systems. I run Pharo on a Mac and what I experience is a bit annoying and I hope one of you already solved the issues. In fact there are two things that bother me: 1. The typical cursor navigation doesn't work. Normally on a Mac: cmd <left arrow> moves the cursor to the beginning of a line, cmd <right arrow> moves the cursor to the end of the line, option <left arrow> moves the cursor one word to the left, option <right arrow> moves the cursor one word to the right, ... and of course it can be combined with shift to make selections. In Pharo I can't do that and it slows down coding. 2. There are problems with the Magic Mouse and it is very annoying when browsing code. Whenever you touch the mouse surface to scroll horizontally it generates shift <left arrow> or shift <right arrow> events which causes text to be selected without it being the intension. Is there a solution for this? Okay, so far, I've made two mistakes. First was my lack of sensitivity to cultural differences around the world. Now that I know better, I shall do better. Second was my failure to distinguish between different subgroups within the Pharo forum. The reason I chose Pharo forum to discuss my campaign was the fact that it is the most active Smalltalk forum there is. People who are interested in Smalltalk join the most active forum generally, and this includes not only Pharoers, but people from ESUG, Squeak, Cincom, Amber, Redline, etc. So, for example, when I appealed for contributors to the Redline project, I should've distinguished the target audience as those groups other than Pharoers. This was my failure and I own up to it. It is unfortunate that I must use the Pharo forum for this purpose. The Smalltalk community is so terribly fragmented that there is no universal Smalltalk forum to address, at least, none that is actually *inhabited*. Without the ability to address the largest number of Smalltalkers, the SRP cannot make any progress. I'm sorry, but I have to be blunt. If anyone can offer a practical alternative, I'd like to hear it. Otherwise, the SRP has only two choices: 1) Continue what it is doing on the Pharo forum, and be mindful of which group(s) I am addressing. 2) Fold up the campaign and leave the destiny of Smalltalk to the Fates. Without the ability to reach out to Smalltalkers everywhere, I am hopelessly disadvantaged. changing theme colors of windows without closing them

Hi, I fairly often switch themes (sometimes daily), and the fact that windows don't properly switch is quite annoying as I have to close literally everything and start over. Is there a way to force-reload the colors without closing the windows? For Nautilus I could probably script something like this (NautilusUI allInstances select: [ :each | each window owner = World ]) do: [ :each | |new| new := each fullBrowse. new ui window position: each window position. each close. ]. both for the rest (GTInspector in particular) I cannot just close them because I have live data there. How does one specify a format for an ImageMorph based on a binary stream

I am trying to do some simple image manipulation. Basically, I want to subtract one image from another, to see what's left. As an experiment, did aStream := ReadStream on: image1 imageExport. newImageMorph := ImageMorph fromStream:aStream. Unfortunately, this fails because there is no subclass to handle the binary stream. I couldn't find a way to specify what format the image was in. Does anyone know how to do this? Cheers Andy

hooking into GTInspector tags

Hi, how can one hook into the GTInspector tags that can be filtered? Apparently I can assign a presentation to a tag with `<gtInspectorTag: #examples>`, however this works only if the tag name was already added. As this was done in GTInspector>>initialize, it makes the whole filtering idea quite useless (unless I explicitly initialize GTInspector, which is not the natural approach). Can't it just collect all the tags from the current presentations? Or can I somehow access the GTInspector instance from the `composite` argument? Thanks, Peter

Hello, I am looking for a method that escape special characters for SQL queries. E.g.: I want to escape : ' in a where expression: '....Where field1 = ''', myvariable , ''' .....' with myvariable := 'don''t do'. I am using garage and haven't found it in the package. Does someone know where I can found it? SUnit and "data driven" tests

Hi, I have a test/algorithm that I would like to test with different sets of input (and matching expected) output. Let's imagine I write a protocol library for the RTP streaming protocol and would like to verify my implementation of sequence number wrapping and jitter delay, e.g. the difficulty is to deal with the sequence number counter wrapping. My test-input is an array of sequence numbers and their arrival time and the expected result would be a calculation of "packet loss", jitter. I would like SUnit to call my testcase multiple times with different data being available. Is something like this supported with SUnit? thank you holger

Hi, Prepared statements can be a solution but I would like to have a simpler one. In the worst case, I may use that.
