[ANN] Introspect web content (Soup with some GT extensions)

Hi, I added a few GT inspector extensions to Soup and cleaned up a little bit. Released as a new version 1.8 of Soup - you will find easily in Catalog for Pharo 5 or by opening Spotter and entering "Soup" to load. As the attached screenshots shows you now have a nice way to introspect the structure of a web page as a tree in the inspector or see the attributes of tags/nodes in a table. Thx T.

using glorp and active record

Hi, I have been trying to get glorp using active record working in pharo 5. I have a descriptor class for it and the classes inherit from active Record. I describe the table as: tableForAnswer: aTable | vistorId questionId | (aTable createFieldNamed: 'id' type: platform serial) bePrimaryKey. questionId := aTable createFieldNamed: 'questionId' type: platform integer. vistorId := aTable createFieldNamed: 'vistorId' type: platform integer. aTable createFieldNamed: 'answer' type: platform text. aTable addForeignKeyFrom: vistorId to: ((self tableNamed: 'VISITORS') fieldNamed: 'ID') suffixExpression: 'MATCH SIMPLE ON UPDATE NO ACTION ON DELETE CASCADE'. aTable addForeignKeyFrom: questionId to: ((self tableNamed: 'QUESTIONS') fieldNamed: 'ID') suffixExpression: 'MATCH SIMPLE ON UPDATE NO ACTION ON DELETE CASCADE' the table in the DB was preexisting. when I do Answer findAll I get and error that it is expecting a number for the id field. in the PostgresSQLPlaform serial is defined thusly. serial "For postgresql, we use sequences, and explicitly get the values ourselves, so just tell the database that they're integers." ^self typeNamed: #serial ifAbsentPut: [GlorpSerialType new typeString: 'integer']. What the DB hands back is 'nextval('answers_id_seq'::regclass)' which seems correct if it is telling me that there exists a sequence for this field and that is the correct command to issue for the field. am I defining this table incorrectly? or should I bag using active Record. I kind of liked it when working in Visualworks because there were also tools that would read in and describe the tables and then tools to assit when you needed to migrate to another version and do the changes etc. FYI this is the query that is being run that fails. As much as I love diving into these frameworks to figure out the deep inner workings, I really need to be getting data in and out without a fuss. Should I follow the DBX example where the descriptor is orthogonal to the model and one does not subclass from active record? I also note that not all the glorp tests pass. I think the were rather minor fails like timezone issues or something. It took a while but the test created a number of tables in the DB. So again Have I done something Obtuse that I qught to be slapped for here? thanks

Script to migrate all mcz packages to git?

Hi, I think I have seen something but can't find it right now. I would like to move to git but preserve the history (and my commit messages and the commit date/time). Is there a script that goes through all versions of a package and copies them to git repository? Will it be able to preserve the original commit date? thank you holger

Hi, I updated the Pillar support in GTInspector. Some of the extensions already exist in the default Pillar #development version. If you want to play with the full support, you can load it like this: Gofer new smalltalkhubUser: 'Moose' project: 'PetitParser'; package: 'PetitAnalyzer'; package: 'PetitIndent'; package: 'PetitIslands'; smalltalkhubUser: 'Moose' project: 'GToolkit'; package: 'GT-InspectorExtensions-Pillar'; load Then you can just inspect a book folder and you get this: I did not integrate this in the main Pillar yet because this is an older implementation based on a limited island parser. As now Pillar has a full parser based on PetitParser, the next step is to move the highlighting logic to use this parser instead of the island parser. From my measurements, the speed of the two parsers is about the same, so from a user perspective there will be not much changes. It pains me that we are editing Pillar in outside tools, and now we should no longer have to do that. Of course, this is not the most ideal tool support for Pillar but I think it is a reasonable start. Porting to Solaris 11

I'm currently porting the Pharo VM to Solaris 11 for a specific project (Sparc and x86). I was wondering how many users prefer the stack VM, as for my own purposes the JIT is better (better concurrency when not using OS functions on a 128 thread machine, which is the deployment target). Is anyone else seeing this error with Doru's Pillar GT Inspector extension? Given I can't get even a basic example to work I'm guessing that it is an environmental issue, but wanted to check first... Hi - I don't think I'll be changing the settings for format as you read wrapping line number or reading the cursor position/line number ever. Is there a way to remove that section from the nautilus code pane? Thanks Paul

Network System Settings

Using Pharo 5.0 with default image. I tried configuring proxy settings(to access monticello repositories). As part of this (via both Welcome window -> settings browser and Systems -> Settings) . selected Use HTTP Proxy . Changed port no. . Set the proxy server name . Added exception patterns Then . Clicked on Store settings. get a pop up informing the the settings have been stored to disk. At this point the text input fields still have yellow highlight showing it has not been saved. Now I try to open a repository. This fails saying the connection to 0.0.0.0:80 has timed out. Which means both the server name and port are not being used. How can i fix this ?
